Gently correct names or pronouns. Be open to change, growth, and learning. Give platform to trans activists and allies. Be kind in life, but energetic in activism. Do: Use pronoun badges Introduce yourself with your pronouns Listen to trans people Platform trans activism Don't: Platform bigotry Claim to be an ally, with no substance Forget that everyone still has something to learn." /end ID]

"How can I challenge transphobia online?" There's a lot of transphobia on line, explicit or implied. One of the most important things to do is to call it out where you see it, by reporting it to the social media you're using! Remember: don't share transphobic posts, even if it's to call them out and make fun. Social media can't tell the difference between sharing for interest or sharing for mocking, so just be safe - and considerate to trans people who don't want to see that content anyway. Do: Call it out when you see it! Use report function Check who you share from! Listen to trans people Link back to trans activism Don't: Resort to just insulting people Be afraid to block Share transphobia Be unwilling to learn and grow." /end ID]

ALT [Image Description: A pale yellow background with a pink and blue border. In the top right is the Guild of Students logo. Text reads: "Being a trans ally: Tip 5. "What do I do if someone is misgendered in front of me?" Remember back in tip 1 when you asked: "Where are you comfortable being out"? Here's why that's so important. If you're in a space where the person is out, correct the mistake! Even if they aren't there! If you don't know if the person is out, don't say anything. You can ask them if they want you to speak up in future, but that's a private conversation you should have alone! Do: Speak up, and call it out! Correct people, even when they aren't there Think about what that person would want Allow for people to learn and grow Don't: "Out" them without their consent/knowledge Make a big deal out of it." /end ID]
