The Sunday has displaced the Feast of St Luke the Evangelist, who was a partner of Paul and the author of the Acts of the Apostles.
At Mass today we begin to hear the first of Paul’s letters, to the Thessalonians in modern day Greece.

"You are a wonderful reminder to everyone of the importance of the sacrifice of the Mass in our lives and in the life of the whole world." +Moth
Last Saturday the National Mass was held at Westminster Cathedral where we welcomed over 500 servers from across 15 of dioceses of England and Wales, a post-pandemic record.
The archbishop preached on the martyrdom of our patron St Stephen, how the word martyr means ‘witness’ and how all who serve at the altar are visible ‘witnesses’ to faith and the importance of the server in the liturgy.
You can read his full homily, find all the photos and the Order of Service at the link below. Our thanks to all who helped arrange this special day in advance and on the day. Our thanks also to the Choir of Gunnersbury Catholic School and the Westminster Diocese Comms team for the photos.
If you have any photos let us know by tagging us in your social post or email to [email protected].

Yesterday, members of the Central Council attended the annual pilgrimage to the Marian Shrine at Ladyewell just outside Preston, Lancashire. The Mass at the nearby church was followed by a Eucharistic procession down the country lanes to the Shrine itself for a time of prayer and benediction. Dozens of Altar Servers assisted in the proceedings and our own Deacon Paul Briers was the deacon at the Mass and led the rosary during the procession. A great day, please join us next Saturday at Westminster for the National Mass.

We give thanks for their commitment, their dignity in service, and the example they offer to our community each time they assist at the altar. Their dedication enriches our liturgy and strengthens the prayerful life of our parish.
May they continue to be fathful in their service at the altar, and may they always grow in faith
hope, and love. Amen

The Liturgy of the Word today focuses on forgiveness. It can be one of the hardest things to do, but Jesus challenges us in the Gospel today to find the grace to forgive those who have sinned against us in the Parable of the Ungrateful Servant.
Today the Goods team volunteers returned from their summer break for this months packing session. In total they packed 67 orders comprising 198 enrolment packs, 13 tasselled cords, 15 silver medals and 27 handbooks. Our thanks to all the volunteers who pack and dispatch all orders throughout the year.
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
