The America vulture capitalists now running Thames Water are trumpeting Liz Barber, former CEO of Yorkshire Water, as the new saviour of the company.
Would that be the same Liz Barber who put up customer's bills by 41% and then refused to give up her own bonus? Of course it would.
Liz Barber was paid £1.32 million in her final year as CEO of Yorkshire Water.

Going from bad to worse... A matter of weeks ago the stretch of the River Thames at Ham and Kingston designated as a bathing water was reporting E coli levels 6 times over the legal limit, now blue-green algae has appeared.
Short version, stay the hell out of the river.

A prelude of what is to come.
Just you wait until this drought breaks and that inevitable deluge of rain comes and with it million of tons of sh*t getting dumped into our rivers and onto our beaches.
It rained for an hour or so overnight, the first rain we've seen in quite some time.
Yet it was enough for @SouthernWater to release sewage in Hythe, thus rendering their beach unsafe to swim today.

💧 A question for the water companies this morning…
If customers’ existing bills already included money for maintaining pipes and infrastructure, why are consumers now being asked to pay substantially more to fix them?
Investment is essential, but so is accountability.
Consumers deserve to know where the money has gone.

I'll bet you these projects will never see a large chunk of that money.
We pay for the system through our bills. Yet almost 1/3 of them go to returns for investors and creditors.
We pay for the infrastructure, for the debt, for the profits. And they keep asking for more.
The only way to end this is public ownership.

Water companies are trying to hike your water bills AGAIN. Privatisation is not affordable.
@andyburnham must block these bill hikes. Let the water companies that can't survive without hiking our bills GO BUST.
