Deeply sorry for yours and your family’s loss @matt_theknife Dr Vaughan’s impact was keenly felt through her patients, colleagues, juniors as well as the large number of doctors she helped through @TheDA_UK
It is with a heavy heart to share that the amazing inspirational legend @DrJennyVaughan peacefully passed away yesterday, Easter Sunday, surrounded by family. (@matt_theknife)

Many have warned of this. A slow grind deterioration of standards may lead to easier headlines but worsened patient care. Politicians of all stripes need to put patients not media startegy first As ever a must read from @ShaunLintern #NHS #NHSCrisis
The Govt will announce plans to scrap the 2 week urgent cancer wait time and nine other cancer targets on Thurs in favour of 3 new targets the NHS believes will lead to faster diagnosis and treatment: thetimes.co.uk/article/8b06c…

For anyone who would like a genuine answer to question 1 rather than the usual uninformed hyperbole that raise the usual zombie arguments on #NHS nuffieldtrust.org.uk/news-it…
1. Who copied the NHS? 2. Despite recent reforms it is still a massive top-down, centralised structure. Just look at latest manpower planning. 3. How much of the £182bn public funds allocated to health in current financial year is temporary, Covid-related?

“What are your plans to retain staff in the #NHS?” “Why should they stay and not leave?” The most pertinent questions to ask a health secretary / govt minister on NHS staffing. Ones that Steve Barclay doesn’t get asked #ridge #bbclaurak

I lost my dad to covid whilst I was working in ITU. Are there other Healthcare workers who lost loved ones during the pandemic due to covid out there? Also keen to connect with those who lost loved ones who were healthcare workers due to covid. #hcwcovidloss

Unfortunately there are so many like Dr ‘Max’ - either stuck in asylum or prevented from taking #NHS jobs due to Home office delays. Some doctors even ended in immigration detention as one anon doctors tells their story 👇🏽 dauk.org/news/2023/03/02/an-…
‘Max’ called my show @LBC. He’s a doctor who previously worked in the NHS. His home county fell apart. He’s been stuck in the broken asylum system Suella Braverman won’t fix for 2 yrs. We need him but he’s barred from working. He feels demonised by this Govt & considered suicide

Today is #OverseasNHSWorkersDay Doctors on non permanent visas are a vital part of the #NHS workforce. Without then hospitals and GP practices would not function Yet the way they are treated often doesnt show appreciation, here is one harrowing story dauk.org/news/2023/03/02/an-…

On #OverseasNHSWorkersDay fixing these visa issues is a simple way for the govt to help the #NHSCrisis and make these doctors lives easier There simply isnt a downside so why is it so hard to fix?

Below are reputable organisations currently working to help those in Turkey. There are thousands still trapped and thousands in need of food, blankets, clothing etc. £1 = 22.5 Turkish Lira. Small donations can go a long way. Anything you can spare is greatly appreciated:

When there is a report about “millions towards #NHS or #socialcare” the reality is that it doesnt get to where it is supposed to Talking “reform/bureaucracy” without addressing this regular profiteering is empy rhetoric #BBCLauraK #Ridge #NHSinCrisis theguardian.com/society/2023…

The NHS today: -lack of social care: patients cant be discharged -lack of staff -current staff overwhlemed/burning out -lack of resources -patients seen in cupboards These issues have built up for a long time & been ignored (Red Cross called a humanitarian crisis in 2017) #NHS

How to #NHS help now: - A social care plan. This has been kicked into long grass for years for too long - staff are needed - this means a realistic immigration policy -pensions reform to stop senior doctors having to reduce their hours or pay to work -pay staff properly!

In the next few days when we see politicians doing interviews on the NHS on #BBCBreakfast #GMB #R4today #c4news bear this in mind 👇🏽 #NHS
If politicians are talking about #NHS, unless they talk about realistically: •Recruitment •Retention •Social Care •Resources Then all they are doing is talking hot air. Thought-through policies, not slogans are needed asap #PMQs #PoliticsLive
