Five Years. Less Crime. A Safer Grover Beach. The numbers tell a great story! Over the past five years, Grover Beach has seen significant decreases in reported crime: -Group A offenses (crimes against persons/property/society) down nearly 50% since 2021 -Property crimes down 78% since 2021 -Calls for service have declined, giving our officers more opportunities to focus on proactive policing and community engagement. These results reflect the dedication of our officers, the support of our community, and the importance of working together to keep Grover Beach a great place to live, work, and play. We’re proud of the progress—and we’re not slowing down! Thank you, Grover Beach, for being part of the team.

Empty Bowls was AWESOME! Yesterday, Chief Munro and many volunteers helped fill “Empty Bowls” with hot soups from all over south county. For just $25, attendees, including some from GBPD, got to pick out a custom made bowl and fill it with their favorite soup. All proceeds benefited the 5 Cities Homeless Coalition. If you couldn’t make it this year, we look forward to seeing you next year!

Grover Beach Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in Paso Robles Grover Beach, CA — On Monday, September 14, 2026, at approximately 12:01 p.m., Grover Beach Police Department responded to a reported bank robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank located at 1580 W. Grand in Grover Beach. Officers arrived on scene within three minutes of being dispatched. Upon arriving, officers learned that the suspect passed a note declaring he was robbing the bank. No weapons were seen. The teller provided the suspect with an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspect left out the east side doors on foot. Using Grover Beach community cameras (CCTV) near the bank, and automated license plate reader technology, the suspect and suspect vehicle was identified within minutes. This information was relayed to law enforcement agencies countywide as a “be on the lookout”. At approximately 12:51 p.m., an alert Deputy with the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office located the suspect vehicle near Highway 101 and Highway 46 in Paso Robles. After conducting a high-risk traffic stop, the suspect was arrested without incident. 67-year-old Brent David Muir, of Bakersfield, was the person arrested. He was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on robbery and burglary charges. The Grover Beach Police Department would like to thank the Arroyo Grande Police Department, the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their assistance in this case.

For many years, the Grover Beach Church of Christ has been a great neighbor and supporter of the Grover Beach Police Department. In fact, they’ve graciously shared their parking lot with our employees as GBPD has grown. Last week, members of the GBPD met with church leadership and presented them with a long overdue “Community Supporter” plaque. We value the relationships we have with our community. Thank you, Grover Beach Church of Christ!

25 years later, we remember. On this Patriot Day, we pause to remember September 11, 2001. We honor the lives lost, the heroes who stepped forward, and the families forever changed by that day. Twenty-five years have passed, but the courage, sacrifice, and memories of those we lost remain with us. Today, we remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Hello, Grover Beach! Here’s a look at some of our year-to-date numbers compared with this time last year: 🔺 Burglaries: 2 → 7 (+200%) 🔺 Thefts: 39 → 47 (+21%) 🔻 Traffic Accidents: 86 → 74 (-14%) 🔺 Traffic Stops: 1,118 → 1,379 (+23%) 🔺 Felony Arrests: 89 → 96 (+8%) While we’ve seen a small increase in burglaries and thefts, there is no reason to panic. These numbers are a reminder that we all play a role in keeping Grover Beach safe. 🔒 Lock it up! Lock your vehicles, homes, garages, bikes and other valuables. Don’t make it easy for someone to become an opportunistic thief. 👀 See something suspicious? Say something. If something doesn’t look right, trust your instincts and give us a call. Your information can make a difference. 🚦 And there’s some encouraging news on the traffic front. Traffic accidents are down 14% while traffic stops are up 23%. Our increased traffic enforcement, including the addition of our motor traffic units, appears to be making a positive impact on roadway safety. We’ll keep doing our part. Thank you for doing yours.
