We are proud to see @AnzanaElectric Group's work highlighted in the Structuring for the Last Mile: Financing the Next Era of African Electrification report by @EnergyAlliance and the Lightrock Energy Access Platform.
The report features Anzana as a case study on how public-private partnerships, project finance and scalable electrification platforms can mobilise long-term capital, accelerate electrification and support universal access ambitions at scale.
Drawing from Anzana's work in Burundi, Zambia and the DRC, it highlights how win-win partnerships between governments, utilities, investors and communities can expand reliable electricity access, enable private sector and industrial growth, and create broader economic opportunity.
Congratulations to GEAPP, Lightrock and all contributors for advancing an important conversation on the future of African electrification.

A landmark for 🇺🇬’s energy future.
@JennyChapman & @MEMD_Uganda & @EOlanya & @GridworksLLP & @uetcl broke ground on the Amari Power Transmission project- the first independent power transmission project in 🌍. 🇬🇧 $50m investment helping power growth, jobs & opportunity.

Private capital is beginning to flow into one of Africa’s most overlooked infrastructure gaps: electricity transmission.
With governments seeking alternatives to debt-funded grid expansion, independent transmission projects could reshape how power moves across the continent.

UETCL has signed a Transmission Service Agreement (TSA) with @GridworksLLP through Amari, marking a major milestone for Uganda’s electricity sector.
The agreement was signed by Eng. Richard Matsiko @uetcl_ceo on behalf of UETCL and Gridworks’ Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Flavin in the presence of H.E @LisaJChesney - @UKinUganda High Commissioner to Uganda.
“We view this partnership as strategic and transformative and we look forward to the effective implementation and tangible improvements to the national grid.” Said @uetcl_ceo in his remarks.
This pilot project will focus on upgrading critical transmission substations at Tororo, Mbarara North, Mbarara South, and Nkenda. These upgrades are essential to strengthening the national grid and supporting Uganda’s growing electricity demand. The project is also expected to generate employment opportunities during construction.
“We are particularly grateful for the leadership, foresight, and constructive engagement shown by the Government of Uganda in bringing this project to this stage." said Mr. Christopher Flavin.
This project is firmly anchored in Uganda’s broader electricity sector reform agenda. In 2023, pursuant to the amendment of the Electricity Act, regulations were enacted to facilitate private sector participation in the refurbishment, upgrading, replacement, and development of transmission infrastructure.
