Our IMLS proposal to incorporate digital objects into Arclight got funded! Description and digital objects in one discovery interface so you can readily use existing description for digitization or describe born digital objects in aggregate. imls.gov/grants/awarded/lg-2…
We posted the CFP for our IMLS grant to build digital object discovery into ArcLight! We‘ll develop specifications to better define how digital objects relate to archival description. If you’ve worked in this space before in any context, please apply! archives.albany.edu/web/arcl…

We're thrilled to announce the launch of our premier webarchiving platform Browsertrix! Archive websites & social media, curate collections and replay your webarchives for as little as $30 / month! browsertrix.com
We also have funding to bring a bunch of people to Albany to spec out archival data structures for this! So be on the lookout for an opportunity to come to scenic Albany in the cold to nerd out about archival data!
My boss's boss position is open, which is probably the most important role in our R1 ARL library. I'm not on the committee and happy to talk about the role. Salary is not listed but was previously ~120k, though I would expect that would have to go up

PNGs are good for preservation. You don't need to migrate/normalize them. I am team #PNGforPreservation
If you got JPGs already they're fine too, you're not gaining anything by converting them.
We gotta get rid of these "compression is not preservation" ideas

I'll summarize a bit since I think we had some important findings:
State politicians and though them the public are just not valuing the mission of research libraries. This is a long term crisis for many research libraries. Our department is going to have great collections on NYS politics and the death penalty, until we're not.
