📚 Book 12/24: How Boards Work by Dambisa Moyo One of the most important lessons in leadership is that having smart people in the room is not enough. What matters is whether they ask the right questions, challenge assumptions, and make decisions that protect the long-term interests of the organisation. In How Boards Work, Dambisa Moyo explores the role of effective boards in navigating uncertainty, managing risk, and creating sustainable value. Three lessons that stood out for me: 1. Independent thinking is essential. The best decisions often emerge from constructive disagreement, not from everyone agreeing in the room. 2. Governance is about accountability. Leadership must be challenged, performance measured, and responsibilities clearly defined. 3. Think beyond the immediate results. Good leadership is not just about delivering this quarter’s numbers. It is about building institutions that can survive uncertainty and thrive in the long term. As someone in property development, I’m reminded that building a successful business goes beyond acquiring land, securing funding, or delivering projects. It also requires sound governance, disciplined decision-making, and the right people asking the difficult questions. My biggest takeaway: A strong board doesn’t exist to make leadership comfortable. It exists to make leadership better.

Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” Nehemiah 2:17. We are rebuilding the walls of Zimbabwe.

I think there is a breach on the Econet network. Everyone who has lost their WhatsApp Business recently is on the Econet network.
Dear @WhatsApp we lost the sms call verification!!! Why are we getting this on WhatsApp notifications which hackers are taking advantage of. This is a serious loophole, I hope we recover our WhatsApp accounts back. 💔😑

📚 Book 11/24: Thinking in Bets by Annie Duke Finished reading Thinking in Bets by Annie Duke, and one of my biggest takeaways is that good leadership is not about always being right. It is about making better decisions, even when the outcome is uncertain. As a young business leader, this book challenged me to rethink how I approach decisions, especially when dealing with investments, partnerships, and long-term projects. Here are 5 leadership lessons I took away: 1. Separate decisions from outcomes. A good decision can still produce a bad outcome, just as a poor decision can sometimes get lucky. As leaders, we must evaluate the quality of our thinking, not just the final result. 2. Think in probabilities, not certainties. Business is full of uncertainty. Instead of assuming we have all the answers, we should consider different scenarios, assess the risks, and make decisions based on the information available. 3. Be willing to change your mind. Strong leadership is not about defending every decision. It is about having the humility to recognise when new information requires a different approach. 4. Build a culture where people can challenge ideas. Surround yourself with people who question your assumptions, not just those who agree with you. Better decisions often emerge when different perspectives are welcomed. 5. Learn from every decision. Whether a project succeeds or fails, there is always something to learn. Reflecting on past decisions helps us improve our judgment and make better choices in the future. My biggest takeaway: Leadership is not about having all the answers. It is about making the best decision you can with the information you have, staying open to new evidence, and having the courage to adapt. In property development, where decisions can take years to reveal their outcomes, learning to think in bets is more than a skill. It is a leadership advantage. #ThinkingInBets #Leadership #DecisionMaking

What we need to understand in brand building is people are driven by habit and social proof, and in the early stages of a new behavior it neither has the strength of a habit behind it nor the strength of social proof.
