Governments and industry must cooperate better to build cyber resilience in the global financial system. This new important report by @mauertim @CarnegieCyber & @wef shows how it can be done. carnegieendowment.org/p-8310…
This weekend I'm joining @CyberStatecraft @SIPA_DCG @ColumbiaSIPA for the #Cyber912 student challenge. The challenge is based on a scenario from the NY Cyber Task Force – it's a great way for future policy makers to get a taste for analysis. I look forward to hearing their ideas.
This year's NYC #Cyber912 scenario derived itself from the work done by the @ColumbiaSIPA convened New York Cyber Task Force, led by @GregRattray_. We’re looking forward to teams' responses to this complex scenario!
Thanks Rich @taosecurity – we really need to capture the history like you say, important to know where we’ve been as we move forward.
Security, like any other field, has HISTORY, which means there are beginnings, and stories, and discoveries, and innovators, and leaders, and first steps, and pioneers. I'm so pleased to see people like @GregRattray_ feel comfortable enough after all these years to say something.
(1/2) Back in 2007, I coined the term “Advanced Persistent Threat” to characterize emerging adversaries that we needed to work with the defense industrial base to deal with. Discussed this on @thecyberwire – thank you @bittner – check out the episode here: bit.ly/34DnzpGd
(2/2) Since then both the APT term and the nature of our adversaries have evolved. What hasn’t changed is that in cyberspace, advanced attackers will persistently go after targets with assets they want, no matter the strength of defenses. More thoughts: bit.ly/3hkRubn
Last week I spoke with Peter Marta for the @P20payments Conference about public-private operational collaboration to secure the financial sector from systemic cyber attacks. Watch the full interview here: bit.ly/2SJm43z
Thanks to @farber and the @KeioCCRC for including me on a great panel on building cyber norms. Enjoyed speaking with my fellow panelists on building confidence and capacity to deter bad actions in cyberspace. If you missed the panel, catch it here.

My number one piece of advice would to ensure you use the dual or multi factor authentication for these applications to make malicious access much harder
