One minute in and you can hear him gasping for breath. And he looks as bad as he sounds. #presidentialaddress
A few years ago, very few people believed me that a convicted felon could run for, be elected, and serve as US president, because our broken country only requires being 35 & a US citizen. Maybe we can expand the qualifications to include smart, Austrian born leaders like Arnold.
I had a simple test for hiring in the Governor’s Office: do you want to serve the public? I didn’t care what party you came from, and I didn’t care what my party said about you. That’s how it should be. Public servants, not party servants.
@govarnoldusc had a fantastic event yesterday about the 20th anniversary of AB 32, California’s historic law I signed to terminate pollution and prove you can protect the environment and pump up the economy. Since 2000, California’s emissions are down 21%, while our economy is up 81%.
We served the public. Not the party.

This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.
She's got my vote. This is what every artist with a moral compass and a platform should be doing and saying. And everyday, average Americans should be doing this as well. The cliche about silence being complicity is actually the truth.

Something deeply unpleasant has happened around this whole tiger enclosure tragedy.
A man has died. His family will be grieving. His final moments are now being passed around online, not because people are solemnly reflecting on human dignity, but because they want ammunition in an argument.
Yesterday I shared the footage with a cutting remark that he ought to be sent the medical bill.
Yes, it was dark humour. At the time, he appeared relatively unharmed. I had no idea he had tragically lost his life.
When I learned that he had died, I deleted the footage out of respect.
I was cross because someone had entered an enclosure containing a magnificent and dangerous wild animal, potentially placing not only himself but the tiger at risk.
I described the behaviour as stupid.
Because entering a tiger enclosure is an extraordinarily stupid thing to do.
That is a description of an action. It is not a judgement on the dignity, worth or intelligence of the person involved.
Could he have had a learning disability? Could he have been autistic? Could he have been mentally unwell or otherwise unable to recognise danger?
Yes, possibly.
But we do not know yet.
What I find extraordinary is the number of people who have confidently diagnosed a complete stranger from a few seconds of footage, treating speculation as established medical fact.
Apparently a raised finger is now enough for a full neurological assessment.
Who knew?
Meanwhile, my remarks have summoned the internet’s self-appointed guardians of compassion.
I have been called soulless, unloving, ableist, a fake Catholic, a fake Christian and a disgrace to my faith.
People have wished cancer on me. Others have wished me dead.
And most revoltingly, I have been told that if my children die, I should expect no sympathy.
All because I made a flippant comment about a man entering a tiger enclosure before I knew the tragic outcome.
And these are the people lecturing me about kindness, empathy and Christian charity.
Apparently describing dangerous behaviour as stupid is an unforgivable moral failing, but wishing death on a mother and invoking the deaths of her children is fine, provided it comes wrapped in a sanctimonious lecture about compassion.
I didn’t claim my original joke was especially charitable. It was dark, sarcastic and made without knowledge of the tragic outcome.
I do not regret making light of what, at the time, appeared to be an astonishing act of recklessness.
But I do recognise that this man’s death is a terrible tragedy. His life had dignity and worth, whatever his circumstances or abilities.
A tiger behaving like a tiger is not a moral failing. Concern that an innocent animal might be destroyed because of human error is not evidence of indifference towards human suffering.
Nor does describing dangerous behaviour as stupid mean the person involved is somehow less deserving of compassion.
If he was unable to understand the danger, that makes the failure to protect him even more serious.
But I am not going to pretend that entering a tiger enclosure is sensible behaviour, nor will I accept that ordinary descriptive language has to be abandoned because someone on the internet has decided to take offence.
You are perfectly entitled to dislike my humour.
You are perfectly entitled to think my initial reaction was insensitive.
You are not entitled to appoint yourself the arbiter of my faith while behaving with conspicuous cruelty towards me and my family.
Christian charity is not a competition to see who can deliver the most sanctimonious denunciation.
It is about how we treat other human beings, including those we dislike, disagree with or believe have said something wrong.
There is nothing virtuous about displaying compassion for someone you never met while directing extraordinary nastiness & spite towards someone you dislike.
Cruelty does not magically become compassion just because you have convinced yourself you are on the side of the angels.

Benny Johnson is misleading his 4+ million followers. Trump did not “acquire Greenland.”
Replying to @bennyjohnson
Hi Benny!
You have more than 4 million followers. Why not tell them the truth?
The United States did not “acquire Greenland.”
The U.S. has already had extensive military access to Greenland under the 1951 Defence Agreement. That framework already provided for U.S. military facilities and the establishment of additional defence areas by agreement.
The new agreement builds on that existing framework. One of its new elements is that non-NATO countries will not be allowed to establish military bases or maintain a troop presence in Greenland.
Military access is not ownership.
Greg H. Sims retweeted
This is shameless propaganda. The United States is NOT getting ownership of Greenland. Stop plastering the U.S. flag on our land as if Greenland has somehow become American territory. It hasn’t.!!
Greenland remains Greenland under the Kingdom of Denmark. Show some respect for our land and the people of Greenland!!
Shame on you!!!!!
ITS HAPPENING
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The post's meme implies U.S. annexation of Greenland, but the Sept. 18 agreement expands military access and veto rights without any sovereignty transfer. Greenland remains an autonomous Danish territory.

A trucking business owner who supports Trump is pleading with him to do something as diesel prices hit a record high:
President Trump, I’ve supported you since you came down the escalator, I still support you… I’m begging you, you got to end it. You got to do something. Diesel just broke $6 a gallon. I can’t afford to let my truck leave the garage now.
I'm always surprised by how many people are shocked to learn tRump is the only potus in modern times (over 100 years) to not have a dog in the @WhiteHouse. This goes beyond issues of his corruption, wars etc, and speaks volumes to the average person. Thank you @BarackObama.
Yesterday, we lost a cherished member of our family.
We got Sunny at the start of our second term in the White House, and all of us – including our first dog, Bo – immediately fell in love. We also had trouble keeping up with her, for Sunny was a force of nature. Athletic and full of boundless energy, she leapt over the hedges on the South Lawn like they weren’t even there, chasing squirrels, birds and anything else that moved. And whereas the way to Bo’s heart usually involved a treat, Sunny was more interested in having us run around with her, roll on the floor with her, or have her belly rubbed for as long as we were willing.
She loved the girls, even if they were pestering her when she was napping. She loved our team, and would often follow them around, helping them on the job. She was fiercely protective of Bo, who she rightly sensed wasn’t always as alert and attentive as she was. She had her eccentricities: other than Bo, she preferred people to dogs; she was a loud and sloppy drinker; and despite being a Portuguese Water Dog, she hated getting wet.
But as far as our family was concerned, she was pretty much perfect, and for thirteen years, she would be by our side – always loyal, always sweet, always ready for adventure, still fiery and gorgeous till the very end of her days.
We will miss her terribly, and imagine she’s with her big brother now, making sure he’s okay.
