Miniature throwback! - I made this topsy turvy miniature of the Halifax Town Clock a few years ago out of air dry clay and painted with acrylic paint. The hill was made from felted wool to resemble Citadel Hill.

Meet JOY & FURY ART
MAUREEN: Traditional Artist
GREG: Digital Artist
WILBER: Studio management
We’re a small but fierce crew made up of myself, my husband Greg and our always-hungry-studio-cat, Wilber. Since 2023 we’ve been making art prints, cards and stickers, showing up at markets and in-stores across Nova Scotia. So far, most of 2026 has been spent making improvements on the back end of our business, figuring out the “boring” stuff like ads and SEO. At the moment we are slowly plugging away at a website revamp. But, we’ve got a few fun art projects brewing for the fall (yay!) along with our website relaunch so please STAY TUNED!

Hey! Did you know that the Seaside Moonlight art print was actually inspired by a miniature that I made during the pandemic? Just like everyone else, I was itching to do something while stuck at home and I made this little fishing shack just from the things we already had in our apartment (and my imagination). A lot of cardboard, glue, acrylic paint and many of my own *found treasures* made their way into this one. I even designed an interior, which I will reshare again in another post because it’s too cute to keep all to myself. Hope you enjoy seeing what inspired this drawing and the little fishing cove I imagine the shack lies nestled within. — Maureen

Sunset Wreck - what remains of a once-proud demon of speed now rests fading in a lonely wheat field, scorched under the hot sun. I created this piece several years ago, but only put the finishing touches on it this week. Now available as a print for the first time. I created this in photoshop, using several classic muscle cars as inspiration, while adding some personal touches into the design. I picture this car as heavy, fast, but not something you'd want to take on a winding road.

The indomitable Sea Shack, taking a brutal beating from a frothy storm. I made this a piece a few years ago, and I always like to think someone is in the shack, having a cup of tea, enjoying the storm. - Greg

Let’s make a boat 🚣♂️
This was a commission I completed last summer: a miniature boat resting on the water, oars at the ready!
I sculpted her from air-dry clay. Starting with paper templates, I carefully cut out the boat parts from the clay before gently piecing her together. Then came the smoothing, the details, and finally the painting. I wanted her to feel like a boat that’s been well used and loved — the kind where you can almost see someone sitting inside, quietly rowing across the water.
It was 10/10 fun making this! As a tactile person, sculpting speaks to me! Adding those wood textures to the seats and aging the outside of the boat? Pure. Delicious. JOY!
For the water, I used a round wood panel and added soft ripple lines with thin beads of resin, before painting the panel to mimic rippling water. I finished it with a clear glaze. Gluing the boat and her oars into place was so satisfying, and suddenly, this little boat came to life!
Thanks for watching me craft, I really enjoyed creating this little beauty!
- Maureen

Hey all! We know we've been really quiet since Christmas, but we are finally ready to share the results of our art studio renovation! We are so happy with how things turned out, it feels like we FINALLY have a proper headquarters to CREATE, filled with fun, happy, retro art vibes! We had no idea how many random side quests this basement would take us on, we had a lot of late nights (a lot!) and more than a few hiccups along the way. We replaced our broken wood stove with a new propane one (last winter was VERY cold down here), had new flooring and baseboards installed, hooked up new lighting and thermostats, installed a new door and new knobs/hardware, converted the old closet into the now, aptly named "Nerd Nook" to house our geeky treasures, filled a lot of holes in the walls and added a much needed fresh coat of paint from top to bottom. Just committing to our bold paint colour choice was hard! Maureen now has a new space to store her art supplies for easy use, and we installed a new woodworking station for Greg, along with an updated print/recycle/garbage station and an updated packing area for preparing our orders.
It was so much work and took far longer than we thought it would, but we are really thrilled to have this space to create our art. Now it's time to get to work on all our projects that have been waiting for us! Thanks for watching!
— Greg & Maureen
