🚨 New figures show that knife crime is down by 11% and overall homicides are down by 7%, since July 2024. Fatal knife attacks are also at their lowest level in 35 years.

Well worth reading for those wondering why Manchester City spent so much money on many of England’s most expensive lawyers only to be found guilty of ‘systematically breaking Premier League rules for nearly a decade’. youtu.be/NjsJyay0tNM?is=S3V-…
⚖️ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆’𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦… 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘔𝘢𝘯 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺’𝘴 𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘵. We know that at the 2024 Independent Commission for their “115 charges”, Man City presented their “irrefutable evidence” in support of their defence known as the “CPC Explanation”. In short, Man City acknowledged the leaked emails stated they were transferring funds from the corporate owner, ADUG, to sponsors but that all the authors of those emails were just “confused” and made “false assumptions” for 8 years. Man City’s defence was that the money flows being described in the emails and documents actually related to money flows from the central government of the UAE (a.k.a. the Crown Prince Court, a.k.a. CPC). The Commission decided this defence and “irrefutable evidence” in support of it was all fake - a “concoction” after the fact. This alone will backfire heavily. It creates serious aggravating factors for any sanction, which really should lead to a recommendation to permanently expel this ownership. But had it worked, they still had a challenge… Man City would have still breached all the same PL rules! You see, there’s no realistic possibility that Man City’s CPC Explanation could have succeeded AND at the same time, not led to Man City and its Abu Dhabi state-owned sponsors being determined Related Parties (something that the Commission found to be the case anyway). As Related Parties, the relationships needed to be reported (they weren’t) and Fair Market Value (FMV) be assessed for each RPT (they weren’t). RPT stands for Related Party Transaction. So, why do it? Why risk further sanctions and even criminal prosecutions for no real gain? Well, this was only part 1 of their defence strategy. The second part was happening concurrently in another, different proceeding between Man City and the PL. In 2021, the PL updated its rules regarding RPTs and changed them to Associated Party Transactions (APTs). This was because they had learned (from the evidence Man City was finally forced to hand over by the High Court in 2020) that autocratic nation states like the UAE could readily hide the true nature of Related Parties to by-pass the rules. Newcastle was about to be acquired by Saudi Arabia at this time too and the PL realised they had to act quickly before they risked the possibility of more nation-state cheating. The APT rules widened the definition and made it much harder for nation states to by-pass the rules and repeat Man City’s cheating. In early 2024, when Man City was preparing its defence for its “115 charges”, the PL clubs voted to tighten the APT rules even further, once again making it even harder to cheat them. In reality, they went too far on one modification that required the clubs (instead of the PL) to prove FMV whilst at the same time, not granting the clubs access to the database used to determine FMV. It was unfair and opened up the rules to challenge (whichever lawyer wrote the amendment was an idiot). The impact of the amendment was that it would make Man City’s excessive, non-commercial APTs (like their proposed Etihad deal) much harder to get approved. Man City launched a Section X challenge against the APT rules in early 2024 with a number of different aims…

I think there’s a tipping point coming in the not-too-distant future when match-going fans simply call it a day. Speaking to a lot of people recently, there’s a growing sense of disconnect between the club and its supporters, particularly after the way fans were treated over the summer. The feeling is becoming increasingly widespread, and I think the club risks underestimating just how much that relationship is deteriorating.
All the chaos at United starts and ends with the ownership. We all know this. Everything in between - the standards dropping, the football falling apart, the culture eroding - has just been the inevitable fallout. Until that changes, nothing will.

Remarkable press conference from @carras16. It might be the best given by any manager in the post-Sir Alex era. He looked hurt, he may not have long left in the job but that will be one that’s etched in United history. A reminder of what we’re supposed to be and stand for.

Forget the 52% @sistoney67 when it’s broken down with actual figures then approx 8800 season ticket holders voted in favour. The headline should read - “only 19% of season tickets holders voted in favour of a new stadium, but fuck them, we are building it anyway” Much more realistic

Right, I hate that I’m tweeting this. It’s absolutely astounding that we have Keane, Scholes, Neville, Rooney, Ferdinand and others working as pundits all giving their two cents on United’s woes but the one who actually gets it and sums it all up pretty eloquently is Jamie fucking Carragher.

Whether or not a choice is made on Michael Carrick today, tomorrow, or after Bournemouth, Jason Wilcox should be announced leaving Manchester United today. Nobody involved in the decisions around multiple failed managers & transfer policy should have further say in club matters.

Hotels don't offer cricketers new deals, so it makes perfect sense why Jimmy Anderson is being forced to retire. Twenty six years, a stand named after him and still taking wickets... Lancashire just treated its greatest player like a 10am check out.

This just about puts the tin hat on the shower of crap Lancs are now, sadly. Best bowler of the season, awarded player of the season, and booted out. I want to say I can't believe they've treated him this way, but I absolutely can.

Don’t he just take 50 wickets at 17 in 11 games? I’m assuming he wants to keep playing… if he does, I can think of 17 others who might want him… 🤦‍♂️

Erik ten Hag was right… Ronaldo didn’t run in or out of possession. 👀
🇳🇱 Erik ten Hag has spoken about how Cristiano Ronaldo let him and the club down in his final season at Manchester United: 🗣️ Ten Hag: "He let the team down, and he let me down, because we planned with him. I flew out to Portugal to speak with him about what I was aiming for before I came to United. Obviously, he’s one of the best in football history. I respected him a lot. But at that time, as a manager, I had to make a rational decision and keep the players I admire in. Many times I say, ‘Ronnie, everyone wants to work for you to bring you in the right position, but if you can’t bring yourself in the box, you can’t score’. He was not capable to do this. It’s the wrong idea to put this to me that I expected him to do the pressing, that he’s exhausted. But he couldn’t. He ran neither in possession nor out of possession. The reason was because he didn’t prepare himself. Every top team has to embrace the top player, but the top player has to work for the team. He was telling the players, ‘Save your legs at the training’. I understand it when you are top fit; you have sessions, you can save the legs. But first you have to train yourself to get into the right fitness levels." 🗞️ @lauriewhitwell for @TheAthleticFC

Some wrongly convicted subpostmasters waited over a decade for compensation. Glad to see Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's claim was handled rather more rapidly.

So £300,000 compensation for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and no compensation whatsoever for the WASPI women. Even though none of them appeared in the Epstein files.

Manchester City’s reiteration of their “confidence and intent in proving the club’s innocence” given their “comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence” is incredibly at odds with their own behaviour and the intensity in which they blocked the Premier League’s process of investigation at every step since December 2018. The scale of their obstructing was revealed in a July 2021 British court judgment. City simply refused to supply information and documents requested by the league, which then issued a disciplinary complaint in August 2019. The club challenged the disciplinary process and the commission that was set up. The league proposed an ad hoc procedure of appointing a new commission, but City objected to that too. The PL were forced to bring legal arbitration against the club, to be decided by a tribunal of three senior lawyers. City countered the PL had no power to do that, and challenged the impartiality of the tribunal. That was rejected and the club were again ordered to submit all the documentation and info. City then appealed to the high court to strike the tribunal down. In March 2021, a judge ruled against the club and that her findings should be published. City unsuccessfully fought against it being made public knowledge; the judgement published in July illustrated just how hard and long they resisted providing information. With all that confidence, intent and irrefutable evidence, why the YEARS of non-cooperation and active, intensive blocking?
