Students took center stage at the farm during Green Chimneys’ Program Showcase, cheered on by their families and staff. Many partnered with an animal they had chosen, guiding them through an obstacle course before sharing facts they had learned. Others presented well-researched topics about wildlife and nature, including the spotted lanternfly and its impact on native ecosystems. Families also learned about specialized programs in cooking, music, art, AV Club, and work-based learning at Boni-Bel Farm. They sampled treats made in cooking class, sipped herbal tea picked fresh from the garden, admired carefully carved woodshop creations, and listened to student musicians. The showcase offered a engaging look at the skills, interests, and learning students develop across Green Chimneys’ programs.

On Friday, Green Chimneys students and staff came together in recognition of National Unity Day. Led by our Student Council, the Green Chimneys community dressed in ORANGE to stand together against bullying and to promote kindness, acceptance, inclusion, and unity! #UnityDay2026 #NationalBullyingPreventionMonth

Today, the Green Chimneys community honors the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the incredible courage of our first responders. The impact of the unity and compassion in the aftermath remains, even 25 years later, and our hearts are with those who continue to be affected.

Each school year at Green Chimneys begins with an entertaining ROCK kick off event with games, crafts and discussions about Respect, Ownership, Communication, and Keeping safe! ROCK is Green Chimneys’ PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program and is an acronym for established behavior guidelines to support, encourage and recognize the use of pro-social, healthy and safe behaviors. PBIS identifies and teaches positive behavior expectations, acknowledges children and staff for demonstrating those expectations, and implements fair and consistent consequences and rewards.

Happy International Literacy Day! 📖 Literacy helps students build confidence, connect with others, and discover new ways to understand the world. Through activities like Reading Buddies, Green Chimneys students share favorite books and learn from one another, strengthening essential skills that support success in school and throughout life. Ross Golf Classic and our second Round Robin Pickleball Tournament, raising over $200,000 for Green Chimneys' special education and nature-based programs! For Ezrah, the gym has always been a place to channel his energy and work through big emotions. Now, it’s also where he’s discovering his potential as a leader. As a referee for younger students, Ezrah is learning to remain calm under pressure, model sportsmanship and make confident decisions. Green Chimneys campers traveled back in time for Dino Themed week with dinosaur-inspired art projects, scavenger hunts, creative diorama building, and plenty of prehistoric fun in costume. 🦖 Hillside campers even got an up-close visit with our emus, whose ancient ancestors make them some of the closest living relatives of dinosaurs still walking the Earth today.

What better way to celebrate summer than a garden party? 🪷☀️ The farm team hosted students and staff alike with live music, a student art gallery, home-brewed tea, glitter tattoos and other fun nature-themed activities. Set amongst the many flowers in bloom, it was an opportunity for everyone to take a moment to enjoy the beauty gardens have to offer.
