"This has to go on." The road taught them plenty, and the only definite takeaway is that they get back on it, one way or the other.
The writer and the director are the same person, someone who cares enough to see their vision through. That, per Gratcast Ep. 14, is where the best projects happen. Writer-directors: does it hold up?

"How many times have to stick my butt in the air before the right person sticks?" The first-choice path won every time. Trusting everyone to do their part was wishful.

Wait for everyone to call it cool and you are already behind it. From Gratcast Ep. 14: be the one others follow, not the follower.
Actor prep, in their own words: memorize the lines, build subtext, a massive water diet, a hair color fix, and begging the director for real direction. The best roles? Just show up and do it.

No banking information. No ID. Just an email address and a physical address. "It's an awful lot of trust to put in a complete stranger."
Is a life full of purpose still rewarding if the notoriety of the achievements never reach their audience?
Anti-ai does not make sense to me as an artist.
My first film should have launched careers, sequels and legacies.
The ONLY reason it didn't, is because i refused to "pay my dues" and sell out my family and friends who invested in it. I also refused to look the other way when it was clear my talent was on the menu.
In the end, the broken distribution system was the only one who profited.
After that, I refused to raise money for another film until an ethical financial system with built in accountability existed.
I spent the next 12 years trying to raise money to build our own operating system. An end to end app if you will. Everything we need to run our operations, manage the audience experience and distribute the content.
A lack of vision or access to ethical capital made it seem like I would never produce another film again. I felt destined to spend the rest of my life pitching the future only to watch it keep happening without me.
Then in March of 2025 I copy and pasted files written by Grok in a crude effort to vibe code an MVP.
I never set the laptop down again and have been building around the clock, even when i sleep, ever since.
Today @Gratwickent is more developed than I expected it to be if we had secured the $10m we were negotiating in 2024 to build it over 3 years.
We now have our operating system. My preference is to make it open source and use it to spend the rest of my life making our movies with great people.
But, that requires you to care about whether that happens or not. It depends on whether or not you are one of those great people.
Because without you, the platform and the model doesn't work as it's intended.
It does however transfer perfectly to an independent AI studio platform.
So, for the first time since I realize what my purpose is, I know one way or the other I'm going to spend the rest of my life making all of the stories and scripts I've stockpiled over the last 12 years of telling Hollywood to gfy.
AI gave me that power, leverage and freedom. Not some studio or rich guy I would have made billions of dollars for by now if they simply moved in ethical ways.
Beginners who are ready to jump in and give their all. Passion and a willingness to try are what set greatness in motion. Gratcast Ep. 8.
