Justin is building an incredible company that will let us speak with plants.
What a beautiful sci-fi technology.
This totally changes agriculture, horticulture and so many areas of plant science.
I’m so excited to see what they build.
1/ Today we’re unveiling Bombadil, @electricplantco's foundation model that reads the electrical signals of living plants and turns them into a continuous view of their physiology.
Trained on 7M+ hours of plant electrical signal across 125+ species. That makes Bombadil the most species-diverse model of directly recorded electrical biosignals in existence. The animal equivalent would be one model that reads the brainwaves of blue whales, horseshoe crabs and fruit flies.

If you think the fact that antivenom is still made by injecting horses with scorpion venom, costs $39M a gallon, about $500 a drop, and scorpions sting 1M+ people a year and kill 3,000+ is crazy... wait until you learn that ALL vaccines are still tested for bacterial toxins using horseshoe crabs’ blue blood, processed into a reagent valued at $60K a gallon. Over 1M horseshoe crabs were bled in the U.S. in 2024, with an estimated 185,000 dying from the process.
Reducing this animal suffering is moral imperative.

New on our Science Blog: designing protein binders against scorpion neurotoxins.
Scorpions sting about 1.2m people every year, and antivenoms are often costly or in short supply. Claude has made an early step toward finding new treatments.

"By engaging with each other online, teenagers and young adults who hadn’t yet formed their identities and were thus highly attuned to peer behavior—the heaviest users of platforms like Tumblr, Instagram, and TikTok—created networks where transgender identification could spread in unprecedented ways."
In this chapter, @GraduatedBen explores the social contagion behind the rapid rise of transgender identity in adolescents.

nashville - the center of a religion with no center
A quick hit: Peter Thiel ended his fourth Antichrist lecture here in Nashville by encouraging Nashvilleans to get over what he calls their “mild inferiority complex,” urging them not to leave finance and politics to others.
His “apocalyptic conclusion,” he says, is there are very, very few places willing to host such a talk, and he was heartened to see people turn up.
He argues that Nashville is something like a global center for Protestantism—what he calls the center of a religion with no center—and exhorts the people of Nashville to fight. If you give up on the battle of ideas, he says, you’ll lose.

Early voting begins today in Texas.
We need every patriot to get out to the polls and vote straight ticket Republican.
The radical left thinks that this is the year they finally break through in our state.
Lets show them that Texas is still Texas.
