ALT 03.23.26: Email to Dr. Sasha Poole from then-UNM College of Nursing HR Director Delana Mannion. The subject line names only 3 Nurse Educators for renewal: Danielle Trujillo, Monique Torrez & Lily Ouellett. Nicole "Nikki" Smith, the 4th, is left off. Mannion's reply: "Lets hold for a little bit on your Clinical Nurse Educators (all 4). We can talk later π" This was 7 weeks after Nicole told UNM in writing she was pregnant, & 32 days before her non-renewal landed days before Ziana's birth. It seemed that a plan to eliminate Nicole around her due date drew nothing but a smiley face from Delana Mannion. (FYI, the Exclusion Naming Method is being used to refer to Mrs. Nicole Smith. This practice is commonly used to avoid IPRA Requests and Subpoenas by New Mexico State Institutions.) Obtained Via UNM IPRA 26-747 on 09.24.26

ALT 04.14.26: One week after Nicole filed her EEOC charge, Asst. Dean Dr. Sasha Poole writes that every step against Nicole was "reviewed in consultation with UNM Human Resources, the Office of University Counsel, and Health Sciences Center Leadership. I have not acted unilaterally." That means UNM HR, University Counsel & UNM HSC Leadership Sanctioned & Premeditated what was done to Nicole & Ziana, & Dr. Poole put it in writing herself. Under "Regarding references to Ms. Smith's spouse," Poole lists an Oct. 24, 2025 email to Nicole "related to her spouse's gubernatorial campaign" & admits Jacob's relationship with the College "might make it uncomfortable for her." Ten days later, Nicole was handed her non-renewal. Also, Election Interference by a State Institution, Anyone?

ALT 04.24.26: At 8:10 AM, Dr. Sasha Poole calls a "required meeting" for 9:00 AM, giving Nicole less than an hour's notice. At 3:05 PM, minutes before Nicole goes on leave to give Birth, Poole emails her a non-renewal letter, copying CFO Jose Gonzalez. The file is named "NS Non-Renewal Letter Final 20260422 Esigned," dated April 22, two days before the meeting Nicole supposedly declined. Nicole is ordered to return her keys, badge & computer within 10 business days. That window runs straight through her April 29 C-section, so the deadline lands just 9 days after she gives Birth. To meet it, she'd have had to bring newborn Ziana with her while recovering from surgery; no other alternative was offered. Nicole is also barred from UNM systems & facilities while on leave for the Birth of her daughter, Ziana.

ALT 04.28.26: The day before her C-section, Nicole Smith begs UNM to put her non-renewal on hold. Her email goes to the Office of Compliance, Ethics & Equal Opportunity (CEEO) and is copied to President Garnett Stokes, the Regents, the Provost, Dean Rosario Medina, CFO Jose M. Gonzalez, Dr. Akshay Sood, UNM CON HR Director Delana Mannion, EVP of HSC Michael Richards, Shirley Alexander, Bridgette Noonen, Matthew Montoya, Emily Wolf, UNM HR Director Kevin Stevenson, UNM Staff President Damion Terrell, Staff Council & HSC Ethics. In bold, she writes that her unborn baby, Ziana, has started having PVCs (premature ventricular contractions), which she believes is "directly correlated to the extreme stress" of the retaliation. She asks for a No-Contact Directive with Dr. Sasha Poole. The next morning, she goes into surgery to give birth. NO ONE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO DID ANYTHING OF MEANING TO PROTECT ZIANA SMITH OR NICOLE SMITH FROM THIS HARM, NO ONE!
