Sad state of affairs. The New constructed Mankhurd flyover has become a death trap for motorists. Accidents happening from day one of the opening, in wet patches due to oil oozing out of the Worst Quality of Tar used for the road.

The uploaded “resolution photo” appears blank, and its GPS coordinates (19.0562, 72.9215) reportedly point to the BMC M-East Ward Office, not the complaint site. BMC, was the issue actually resolved or just marked as resolved? Please investigate! @mybmc @mybmcWardME @AshwiniBhide

If pollution is reaching Chembur and Kurla, what must residents of Govandi, living next to Deonar, be exposed to daily? RMC plants and the dumping ground remain major pollution concerns, while Deonar reportedly receives 600+ tonnes of waste daily despite the planned 2019 closure.

Shivaji Nagar–Mankhurd Road,Traffic management is ZERO! Wrong-way rickshaws and garage vehicles blocking roads, but no traffic cops in sight. Challans alone won’t solve this! We need proper traffic management and enforcement, not just challans. Please take action. @MTPHereToHelp

INDIA IN A STATE OF UNDECLARED EMERGENCY... Yesterday when I posted a message appealing for unity & peace in today's protest I had never imagined that the biggest democracy in the world would be under an undeclared EMERGENCY. I was happy there were so many leaders to lead the movement, but I now learn that they have all been arrested. I hope those arrested will be released soon. I will be compelled to consider an Anshan Fast or Padyatra March if they are not released by tomorrow. #JantarMantar #protest #CJP #CEC #sonamwangchuk

Now Govandikar demands Nagpur Model ! @Dev_Fadnavis @CMOMaharashtra Before more SRA games — slum dwellers want patta in their own locality. Instead of builder-centric SRA we need public-centric policy — Give Title to the land stop height game in slum. @mieknathshinde @mybmc – at Navi Mumbai, India

BMC to map 10 air pollution hotspots in each ward: BMC on Saturday said that it has drawn up an Air Pollution Control and Enforcement Action Plan-2026, with a focus on identifying pollution hotspots and stepping up enforcement against construction dust, road dust, debris dumping, garbage burning and vehicular emissions. Under the plan, at least 10 air pollution hotspots will be identified in every administrative ward and mapped through updated lists. Major construction and redevelopment sites, infrastructure works, locations where garbage is burnt or debris is dumped, and traffic congestion points will be included in the hotspot list. A designated officer will be responsible for monitoring each hotspot. The civic body has also directed its teams to inspect at least two construction sites daily. The BMC said its existing 28-point guidelines for construction and demolition sites will be strictly enforced, with violators facing show-cause notices, stop-work notices and, if required, sealing action.

The bjp appointed Mayor of @mybmc Ritu Tawde ji says that she now is opposed to the BMC proposal of demolishing all informal houses/ slums above 14 feet, after the BMC that she is supposed to head tabled the proposal. How bizarre can it get? The Mayor, herself, opposes the BMC proposals and is supposedly clueless about it?! How can she, being the Mayor, not know what the BMC proposes? Just like the 5 crore renovation for her mayoral residence with taxpayer money. I have said this before, and I say it again, the bjp does not know how to run governments- at any level. Show me one city that bjp runs, and has not been led into decay in the past 15 years! The bjp is now trying to save its skin by showing its opposition, but the fact is: The bjp wanted to push certain slums towards certain builder friends, therefore was trying to threaten the slums not signing on to those builders with a demolition notice. Or/ And!! Accept that you can’t run governments. We are anyway witnessing India’s Lost Decade and its socio economic repercussions on the country’s citizens.

Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde is scheduled to address a press conference at BMC headquarters this afternoon, amid opposition to the civic administration’s decision to launch a three-month special drive from October 1 against unauthorised constructions in slum areas. Under the proposed drive, 39,111 structures measuring 14ft or more in height have been identified for action. Tawde’s press conference comes days after BJP leader of the House Ganesh Khankar submitted a written objection to the BMC’s decision. The proposed action has also faced opposition from other political parties.
Mumbai Congress president and MP Varsha Gaikwad will lead a delegation of MPs, MLAs and corporators to meet BMC commissioner Ashwini Bhide on Monday, September 28, over the civic body’s decision to demolish around 39,000 slum structures measuring 14 feet or more in height. Congress has joined the opposition to the BMC move announced last week. The meeting is scheduled for 1pm, following which Gaikwad will address the media.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray has urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to protect slum dwellings that have been vertically extended to create 1+1 homes, ahead of the @mybmc proposed three-month drive against unauthorised constructions measuring 14ft or more. Thackeray said the civic administration’s decision to take action against structures based on their height would affect families living in Mumbai’s slums. He also referred to the BMC’s recently operationalised Occupancy Certificate (OC) Amnesty Scheme, arguing that ordinary citizens should receive similar protection.
Leader of the @mybmc House and BJP corporator Ganesh Khankar has urged municipal commissioner to immediately suspend instructions to issue notices to slum structures above 14 feet, saying the move has created fear among slum residents across Mumbai. Khankar said around 40% of Mumbai’s population lives in slum areas and that many residents had been living in the city for several years. He said the state government was already undertaking slum rehabilitation through the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), cluster development and other schemes, with the objective of making Mumbai slum-free. Khankar’s intervention is significant as BJP is the single-largest party in the 227-member BMC with 89 corporators. BJP, along with its Mahayuti ally Shiv Sena, is currently in control of the civic body.
