Reminder: the modern 'nationalism' and patriotism combines true love of one's own country with the genuine wish that each country reaches for greatness.
Well sad.
(An aside: like many Americans, I hope Europe turns itself around. It won't be easy.)
Election day should become a national holiday but meanwile: very practical suggestions for any business.
Followed.
Oil and gas bros need to connect and work to get the word out.
If you’ve got an O&G business or are running a crew, shut it all down on November 3rd and get your people to the polls.
Tell your contractors they they aren’t allowed to bill more than half a day on election day and make sure they know why.
If you’re working on a crew, talk to your supervisor about shutting everything down on election day and making sure everybody votes.
Yet again, the hard left is targeting our industry. We need to make sure they don’t get their hands on the Railroad Commission.
That would be catastrophic.
The whole series is a bit over-the-top for me … but might actually help. Good luck to Steve Hilton and the people of California.
This!
I have no inside knowledge, but it's pretty obvious even from the outside. e.g. DOGE found plenty, but was blocked at every turn. Many (R) in Congress have been terrible; the bureaucrats must be much worse.
The entrenched, unelected, careerist bureaucracy in our federal government is so much worse than almost everyone realizes.
I wish more conservatives understood this, because then they might stop bitching about what the Trump Admin has been able to accomplish and not accomplish.
Given what they are up against, the accomplishments of the Trump Admin over the past almost two years have been nothing short of miraculous.
The whole anti-Boomer thing is nonsense. It ignores:
1. actual history, economic conditions, etc.
2. huge differences in political opinion
Did you ever have a 10.5% mortgage rate?
I did. First home purchase in 1988.
Did you ever experience an AVERAGE rate of inflation over 4 years of almost 10% -- moving between 6.5% and 14%?
I did -- the Presidency of Jimmy Carter.
I took out $75,000 in student loans from 1982 to 1987.
That is the equivalent of borrowing $225,000 from 2021 to 2026.
The premise of your post is false.
> the existence of different autonomous, healthy nations is enormously positive-sum. That’s why you see British nationalists supporting Japanese nationalists supporting French nationalists, and why the word “patriot” is used as a compliment across borders.
This! Read the rest.
Replying to @RichardMCNgo
I’m tweeting this partly because I noticed I’d become somewhat callous over the last year. I was focusing more on undermining taboos, but less on a positive vision for the future. Seems reasonable for people to trust me less because of that.
So it’s worth reiterating that my long-term goal is flourishing for all. Indeed, I think of that as the core difference between 20th-century nationalism, and 21st-century national conservatism. The former was about nations competing, often violently. The latter focuses on the idea that the existence of different autonomous, healthy nations is enormously positive-sum. That’s why you see British nationalists supporting Japanese nationalists supporting French nationalists, and why the word “patriot” is used as a compliment across borders.
Now, the first step towards that vision absolutely needs to be fixing the West—which requires that Western countries have meaningful borders and honest race relations within those borders. (It’s possible that I, as a wasian immigrant to the US, end up not being able to stay because of this. That would be sad, but not necessarily unjust.)
But a healthy West could fix extreme poverty in Africa for a fraction of what we currently throw away down the drain of useless or counterproductive international aid. And it could figure out how to deal with internal ethnic conflicts in far less destructive ways than the protracted cultural civil war we’ve been waging for the last century or more. None of these things are unsolvable problems, especially given our technological knowledge. They are just very difficult to grapple with when you’re stuck with the kinds of cognitive handicaps I discuss in my QT below.
So my intention is to think clearly with courage and compassion, and trust that from that stance we’ll be able to figure out much better solutions to our problems.
Hard truths are a vital path to making the world a better place.
From Johnson's Great Society to Bush's No Child Left Behind: ignoring the unpleasant reality leads to wasted $ and often making things worse.
🔥 Now this is how you field the questiond about the war in Iran. The crowd's response is epic.
GOP Senatorial candidate Justin Murphy's response was pure gold. Senator Cory "Spartacus" Booker's face tells the entire story as Democrats have seen no one come Out swinging like this.
"Mr. President, put your cowboy hat on and get out there and kick some
a$$...and get this done and get this done right"
Not a surprise to those who have been paying attention, but noteworthy from the IPCC.
Too bad the climate alarmists will ignore what they ought to treat as very good news for humanity.
Zelfs VN klimaatpanel IPCC bevestigt dat er geen gemeten toename is van dodelijke weerextremen zoals orkanen en overstromingen.

> As much as I don't want Talarico anywhere near government, I also don't want wish him harm
Most (R) are like this.
Most (D) are not.
Really wish MAGA skeptics would pay more attention to which side is genuinely more tolerant and welcoming.
My sources are telling me Talarico is in a mental health facility. His campaign has stopped actively planning events in the vital homestretch of the campaign.
If this is true, this is actually a time to pray for Talarico. We should, of course, savagely mock his smug, awful campaign advisors, by all means...and while yes, of course, this would be disqualifying for Talarico's aspirations to be a Texas Senator, we must hold empathy for anyone undergoing crisis. Campaigns are brutal, and not everybody is cut out for it. You need very thick skin. As much as I don't want Talarico anywhere near government, I also don't want wish him harm, and no political office is worth having a breakdown. His awful advisors are at fault for this. They pushed him to be something he isn't, and it didn't work.
I'm praying that this isn't true, and he's OK. You want to win these fights on the battlefield of ideas, not the minefield of poor health.
Take heart!
But vote as if we're behind. Bring family & friends to the polls. Mid-terms are tough. A loud subset has left MAGA. Others will stay home since it's not a Presidential election.
But turnout matters! Let Trump finish the job.

> Libs were getting 95%-98% of what they wanted with abortion being the only issue with any real conservative pushback.
Fact check: true. And perceptive.
Good piece in Compact on how Woke 1.0 radicalized the GOP.
Conti and Sibarium argue that ‘the GOP has moved so far right [under Trump II] that there may be more daylight between Trump I and Trump II than there was between Obama and Trump I.’
I think this is right. I was a lib back in 2016 and after the shock of Trump winning wore off I didn’t find any of his actual policies that alarming.
Under Trump I lib cultural hegemony was still in place and there wasn’t any real threat to the lib agenda that accreted from the 1960s up through Obama.
Most of the pre-Trump II bipartisan detentes on everything from affirmative action to LGBTQ favored libs and so in retrospect it’s crazy that libs manically decided to blow those agreements up. (I think ‘wokeness’ may go down as the greatest unforced error in domestic postwar American politics. Libs were getting 95%-98% of what they wanted with abortion being the only issue with any real conservative pushback.)
Anyways, libs tried to impose a set of untenable demands via wokeness, conservatives realized they were getting nothing from their concessions, Trump stomped back, the right has pushed an agenda that is actually of its own making, and the rest is history. Just very funny to think that libs had the perfect captive opposition and then got very high on their own supply and for some inexplicable reason just decided to shoot their own face off.
I'm not in TX so don't have an informed opinion on Paxton. Seems to have done some very good things; certainly has made some enemies.
But it's quite clear that Talarico is much worse for TX and for the country.
As noted here:
I’m phone banking for GOP candidates in Texas. Speaking to man in his 60s. He cannot stand Paxton. And then he says, “I’ll vote for a morally corrupt person every single time over a commie.” And that tells me the 3rd party ads are working. #txsen
2026 matters, but here's a scenario where a Dem win isn't devastating.
A Dem House majority always sucks, no matter when, no matter who is in office.
But - if they get one it will be a narrow one. They will become so radical they will fully purge any remaining blue dogs or logical ones (there are 13 Dems in House districts Trump won).
In 2027, more of Trump’s agenda will come to fruition, and it is very possible the economy ignites, and very likely short term price increases go back down for oil, food, etc. The more illegals that leave, the lower rents go.
As these good things are happening as a D House majority does unpopular and stupid things like try to remove the president (look how it went for Rs in 1998), and things improve, it will make it far more likely the GOP wins the presidency in 2028 and with more red states set to redistrict and better odds for swing seats, a likely House majority.
This is important because 4 or 8 more years of (R) president following up on Trump’s immigration policies/deportations with the budget to do it will be able to send that problem back to the Stone Age. Right now, 2 illegals are leaving on their own for every 1 deported.
With a GOP president in office in 2030 and now aware to the census fraud, proper oversight can be granted to that process, which will probably eradicate 15 or more Dem House seats + electoral votes. In 2040, with the same trends present, the Dem party will be relegated to a permanent minority and have to do 30 or more electoral votes better than presently forecasted to win the presidency.
Long term outlooks are always the best, and for those of you who will come complain about how the GOP sucks, then maybe start voting in primaries and nominating real candidates. 4% of Salazar’s district even bothered to vote in the primary - self-inflicted errors all around.
The ongoing Japan / USA 'lovefest' is great!
Two countries that are very different in so many ways, mutual respect for those differences, and also with so much in common. (And a vital enemies-to-friends lesson that is missing in so much of the world.)
To all the MAGA supporters who follow me, I ask you once again.
Please use my work to support the Republican Party.
Let’s show the world an overwhelming victory and silence the global media!🇯🇵\😁/🇺🇲
