CiRa, led by Shinya Yamanaka, is Sumitomo Pharma's research partner for the Amchepry program. There is a history of suspect research and fraud, particularly repeated behavior of 'image duplication concerns'. We found 2 well documented cases of fraud, but 8 that are undisclosed

Cc: @addictedtoigno1 David Sholto. Didn’t realize who Sholto was but learned he is a scientist who has a talent for detecting research fraud. It’s not surprising @4BetterScience mentions Yamanaka (and not in a good way) multiple times. That these scientists are critical of Yamanaka is red flag re: Sumitomo Pharma

CiRa's President Yamanaka (President of Sumitomo Pharma's key research partner) paper from 2011: Modeling familial Alzheimer's disease with induced pluripotent stem cells Similarly to the 2000 Yamanaka paper scandal, a user by the name of David Sholto noted similarity within 2 images of the paper of which Yamanaka is listed as an author. These are conflicts of interest, but they are not problematic by themselves. The issue is that CiRA and its head Dr. Yamanaka have two documented cases of fraud. Worse, we have discovered 8 additional cases where we see fraud, including a paper where the Amchepry trial’s lead investigator is an author. For these reasons, and more, we believe the Amchepry and regenerative research are compromised and the 350 revenue target, bogus.

Sumitmo Chemical just reported its earnings for its Fiscal year Q1. How is that so-called "V shaped recovery" going? - Cash flow from operating activities down YoY - Free cash flow down, burning even more cash, YoY This reminds us a lot of Kyndryl, $KD

The Worst case scenario for the 116 billion accounting hole: fictitious revenue and/or fictitious accounts - in other words, fraud. We believe the worst-case scenario is that Sumitomo Pharma used the Swiss and parent companies to artificially boost Sumitomo Pharma’s consolidated results with fake intercompany receivables. This would explain why, and how, Pharma’s consolidated profits were boosted by the anomalous surge in receivables.

Sumitomo Pharma's FY2025 accounts receivables grew over 5x faster vs revenue growth. This is its largest ever YoY growth in receivables & biggest divergence to revenue growth in its history in its current form. Do your own work, but this is a big red flag. xitter.cf/GothamResearch/status/…
Replying to @GothamResearch
Pharma’s FY2025 Receivables grew 76% YoY while its revenue grew 14%. We suspect channel stuffing, aggressive revenue recognition, or fictitious revenue.
