My first PW review is a starred one! "White conveys visceral terror through gorgeous, evocative prose ... juxtaposing the macabre with the sublime for a truly pleasurable read." publishersweekly.com/978-1-9…

I'm prepared to accept the end of literacy, but in exchange writers and editors have to stop imagining a reader who can't follow long sentences, misses irony, thinks of counterexamples to everything, and doesn't understand jokes. That's over. We're down to the good ones now.
You can catch my flash fiction "Plan Z" on this podcast! It's about making plans for when the zombies show up ... but not in the way you're thinking.
Welcome to episode 694. We have five bite-sized tales of terror for you this week. About avoidant home renovations, a plan for the zombie apocalypse, a siren’s awakening, an evil fingernail, and a family of squatters defending their home.

It’s been a long time coming, but I’m so stoked to reveal the cover for my upcoming collection PORTRAITS OF DECAY (6/16)!
There’s a lot I want to talk about regarding this book (and believe me I will), but for today I just want to talk a little about what went into this cover.

Watched “Blast of Silence” - a 1961 neo-noir re: a hitman in NYC is technically a “Christmas movie," but plays the loneliness to great effect. Has a weird, bleak use of second-person narration in the film (Inner monologue? Fate? Demon?) and real cold splash & nihilistic ending.
Oh, I really agree with this. Deeply connecting to a piece of fiction - creating 9t as an author - is one of the strangest, most affecting experiences we can have, but because it's so subjective and hard to quantify, we end up trying to teach it via "objective" formulas.
Oh no - it was recorded.
New Post! Special thanks to @cascadewriters @SPLBuzz HWA Seattle Chapter, and our amazing panelists: Sadie Colleen Hartmann @wnwagner @KendareBlake Keith Rosson @GordonBWhite plus organizer/ transport/ entertainment/ choreographer @ClaytonVermulm !

Hey,
Let me make your fucking book cover. Don't resort to AI. I'd rather work with your budget and discount my rates than see another AI abomination representing a story on my timeline.

MARTIN SCORSESE raves I SAW THE TV GLOW:
"There's one film I liked a great deal [..] I Saw the TV Glow. It really was emotionally & psychologically powerful. Very moving. It builds on you, in a way. I didn’t know who made it. It’s this Jane Schoenbrun."

# 108 – THE PAINTED LADY with Jesse Herron
We chat about brothels, ghosts of the Old West, The Philosophy of Beer, working with GHOST ADVENTURES and
the Paranormal-Industrial Complex, brewing horror movie beer, starting a ‘Spookeasy’ and the haunted PAINTED LADY BED & BREW!
As promised, I put together my 7 essays in 7 days challenge into a free book, available for download at my website. PDF and epub versions available. gordonbwhite.com/pph
In order to break out of a writing slump (and distract myself during the last days of American democracy), I’ve started a self-imposed challenge of writing 7 hasty craft essays in 7 days. (H/t @CarsonWinter3 doing 7 stories in 7 days). This is my accountability thread. 1/8

Writing is the only art that anyone can make without a budget or access to equipment or expertise. In one sentence you can contain what 50 films could never, then you can follow that with another sentence. The price of entry is a willingness to explore
Friday book haul. Some Bolaños, my first Tokarczuk, and a pre-release Malfi (thanks, @titanbooks!)
