I thought his personality was supposed to be gone forever?
That was quite the confident and defiant Arch Manning at the podium today, btw. If Texas runs the table and reaches the Playoff, this presser will be one to remember.

As usual, you have missed the point entirely. It’s getting almost impressive.
LOL. The soccer reporter guy slowly realizes a soccer franchise can’t do much about ICE other than issue PR statements.

Austin FC releases a statement apparently in response to the walkout staged by La Murga and other SGs at Q2 Stadium last Saturday. The message displayed during that demonstrations was “NO ICE IN THIS MELTING POT”
A message for our community. 💚🖤

Opinion: As far as statements go, this is as substantive as I’ve seen from a major sports organization surrounding the ICE issue. But that’s a low bar, and more importantly, words are just words. Actions will always carry more weight, and it’s hard to pinpoint realistic actions a soccer team can/should take to mitigate the very real anxiety and safety risks posed by ICE.

Austin FC is locked in a standoff with its most vocal (and musical) fans over ICE. With neither side likely to fully get its way, it’s imperative for cooler heads to prevail at risk of permanently damaging an otherwise beautiful symbiotic relationship: austinchronicle.com/sports/t…

“ACL Fest remains committed to leaving the Great Lawn better than we found it” might actually be the funniest thing I’ve ever read on this app😂
Weekend One was one for the books 🤘 Thank you to the amazing ACL Fest fans for their dedication and positivity throughout, and to our incredible staff and partners who worked tirelessly around the clock to deliver a safe event under challenging conditions! Beginning tonight, we will bring in extra resources to remove temporary turf and ground protection that was utilized this weekend. We will prioritize rest and recovery of the park this week by strictly limiting activity on the grounds before next weekend. Assessment of the grounds is underway, and we will meet daily with Austin Parks and Recreation to prepare for remediation after the festival. ACL Fest remains committed to leaving the Great Lawn better than we found it and will continue to be proud stewards of Zilker Park. We look forward to another incredible weekend October 9-11!

This is Texas athletics director Chris Del Conte’s full statement on the “embarrassing” conduct concerns the Longhorns had during the Tennessee game, via the Forty Acres Insider: “We can all agree it was a heck of a game and an incredible performance on the field, but I also know we had some major issues to address with inappropriate celebrations from our players. I'm not happy about that, I know none of us are, and it was embarrassing to our proud and widely respected football team, athletics program and university. It certainly raised very warranted concerns that many of you shared with me, drew a lot of attention, and I understand why. Rest assured, Coach Sark has addressed both situations with the players individually and with the team, and he discussed them after the game and again in Monday's press conference. As he said, it is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. “The message is clear — the players conduct did not reflect the values of Texas Athletics or our university and cannot happen again. I also want to add my apology to our Longhorn community and everyone who expects better from Texas. We should represent this university with class, dignity and respect at all times, and in those moments, we fell short. I do recognize that these are young men who made mistakes, and this is a meaningful learning experience. They have owned their mistakes, and those actions are not reflective of who they are. They are good people who made poor choices — they know it, we know it, and they, along with our entire team, will grow from this. What matters now is that they do just that and that our entire team understands the responsibility that comes with representing The University of Texas. We are proud of the team and what it accomplished Saturday and thus far this season, and we will continue to hold ourselves to the standard that all of you rightly expect from Texas. Thank you for your passion, your candor and your unwavering support of our Longhorns.”

It literally is?
Steve Sarkisian met privately with Raleek Brown and Colin Simmons about their celebrations over the weekend. "It's not who we are as a team," he said.

"Arch made fools out of everybody in that room, because they helped make him look like a fool. They all laughed, and he took all the heat." If any media member is lamenting Arch Manning's short responses this week, maybe look inward first.
"Don't criticize the subject if you ask stupid and bogus questions, which I heard on most of those. If you ask Arch Manning a pertinent question, maybe he will answer them" - Paul Finebaum

As a Giants fan, nobody had (or has) a better personality than Arch’s Uncle Eli, but you never would’ve known that if all you saw were Eli’s press conferences. There are other, better places to let your personality shine than the podium.
Just now seeing this, courtesy of @TravisRecek. Arch has an incredible personality. Don’t think we’ll see much of it for a while, though. xitter.cf/TravisRecek/status/210…

Arch Manning’s apology was a start. But there’s a bigger conversation to be had about why an AI video depicting violence against women became something to spread and laugh about in the first place. My column on accountability, and what means for women in sports: thedailytexan.com/2026/09/17…

Maybe stick to ambulance chasing going forward. Self-awareness in critically short supply these days.
Replying to @Goodman
What an embarrassing column about this 😂 Maybe stick to soccer going forward.

Kudos to Sark for taking some responsibility for the postgame mishap on ESPN, which started a chain reaction that has obviously distracted from the huge win vs. Ohio State. As a UT grad and season ticket holder, it put a bad taste in my mouth, but now we can put this whole thing to bed. Men, none of us are perfect. We have to remember that it’s okay to admit when we make a mistake, and apologize when necessary. It’s not capitulation or an admission of weakness. It’s actually a huge show of strength.
Steve Sarkisian: "If hindsight's 20/20, if I could do it all over again, I would've exuded more patience in that moment." Sark addresses the halftime and post game interviews Saturday night. #HookEm

Bingo. If only the head coach would follow his QB’s example.
The Arch Manning-Holly Rowe kerfuffle was a prime example of good-hearted people making honest mistakes, and then owning them and apologizing with grace. Pretty uplifting, actually.

Defend. Redirect. Whatabout. Double down. Everything accept admit we’re not perfect and make mistakes.
Arch Manning was criticized more for LAUGHING at an Internet meme than Josh Jacobs was for allegedly hitting a woman. Here we go again, fake violence intended to be funny is worse than actual domestic violence.

“Good for Manning owning up to the error. This will hopefully be a learning experience for him. But for that to happen, it will require proper guidance and mentorship from the adults in the room, and that’s who really showed their ass the most in this instance.”
