France is going solo on its next-gen fighter — launching the “Super Rafale” F5 in December and a national SCAF prototype from 2027.
Four months after the Franco-German SCAF collapsed, Paris and Berlin have fully diverged.
Merz is being courted by UK PM Burnham to join the British-Japanese-Italian GCAP program, while France accelerates alone.
The F5 Rafale will feature AI integration, new optronics, a new engine, and a hypersonic missile carrying the latest nuclear deterrent.
In parallel, the air force is launching HypAIRion, an AI-driven collaborative combat flying initiative.
