Professor David Jackson was interviewed by Gianna Volpe of NPR's "Heart of The East End" @heartoftheeastend after being inducted as a Fellow into the @theRoyalSociety-- putting him in league with likes of Albert Einstein, Benjamin Franklin, Charles Darwin, and Stephen Hawking—for his lab’s discovery of several genes controlling plant architecture by exerting influence on stem cells, which could be used to boost plant yield.

במיוחד כעת, בימים המאתגרים והכואבים לכולנו, אנחנו גאים פי כמה לראות את המצוינות הישראלית שוברת שיאים ותורמת לאנושות כולה. הישגיה המחקריים הבינלאומיים של פרופסור נירית ברנשטיין הם דוגמה מעולה לכך.
פרופ׳ ברנשטיין היא חוקרת מצטיינת במכון וולקני ועובדת ותיקה במשרד החקלאות, שמחקריה בתחום החקלאי כובשים את העולם ופורצים דרכים מדעיות באופן שמשנה את חייהם של המונים בכל רחבי תבל. בשנה האחרונה, לרבות התקופה הקשה שאנו בעיצומה, הוענקו לפרופסור ברנשטיין באופן חסר תקדים ארבעה פרסים מדעיים בין-לאומיים מוערכים ביותר בזירת חקר הצומח, פרסים שאף ישראלי לא זכה בהם לפניה.
שמחתי היום להוקירה ולהודות לה ובאמצעותה לכל קהילת המחקר המדעי בישראל - שכבר קנתה לה שם עולמי ועושה לנו הרבה כבוד, ולמכון וולקני ואנשי המחקר החקלאי בפרט. עוד גאווה ישראלית!

I will pay a full scholarship to any student who wants to leave their “elite”campuses overseas and come to Israel to do research in my lab in @TelAvivUni @TAUMedFaculty. It is not only strawberries and cream here but at least you don’t have to hide who you are
