From @TheAthletic: There is an ugly stain on Alex Ovechkin's legacy, our columnist writes. His public, persistent support of Vladimir Putin. The NHL's all-time leading goal scorer's "explanations have been absolutely shallow and borderline dismissive."

Article of mine was published today in @washingtonpost . In it,I describe why Russian citizens—led by Ovechkin—are currently acting as promoters of Russia's imperialist war. Also, how the @NHL is contributing to the war's prolongation and a higher death toll wapo.st/4dd657K

The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”.
The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.
We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms.
Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.

Amazing to see how well this spaceship survived.
First-ever soft splashdown that left Starship intact & floating, allowing close-up inspection of the heat shield tiles after the wicked heat of reentry.
Onwards to catch it next time - congrats to the whole team @SpaceX !

Since 2008, $15B taxpayer dollars have been invested in California High Speed Rail. There is no working track and zero passengers so far.
In the same time frame $12B in private funds were invested in SpaceX pre IPO.
SpaceX has 10,000 Starlink satellites serving 10 million customers and has taken 74 passengers into orbit.
Politicians tell you they’ll do better with Elon’s money than he does. California shows the truth.
💯
Having Canadian national media publishing guides on how to hate @elonmusk is shameful.
Not only is he one of the most important builders of our generation, he's also Canadian.
It sets a terrible example and will scare away many others from ever trying.
You don't need to like his politics to respect what he has contributed to humanity.

Fable 5 estimates that Musk employs a half million direct and indirect people in the US connected to businesses he created paying in $5-7B+ into SS. Bernie knows this but chooses to distort reality to create villains and divide our country

This is what a hero looks like.
Canadians will never be able to fully repay their immense debt to the Pinizzotto family.
The least Canadians can do is honour his memory by demanding that justice is swift, severe and uncompromising.

Tonight, the Russians struck Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities and communities. The largest number of missiles was directed at the capital – at ordinary residential buildings, at schools; they burned down a food market, one of Kyiv’s oldest markets. The Russian strike effectively destroyed the Chornobyl Museum, damaged the National Art Museum and the building housing the office of Germany’s ARD. As of now, 69 people have been reported injured in the capital. Tragically, two people were killed in this senseless Russian attack. My condolences to everyone who has lost family members and loved ones.
I have already spoken with the President of France and the Prime Minister of Norway. There will be further communication with our partners today. I am grateful to everyone who is not staying silent about what Russia is doing. They are waging war solely against our people – against our memory, our history, and everything that makes up normal human life. It is important that Russia understands that they will be held accountable for all these crimes.
