📑 At the 87th session of the @UNECE Committee on Urban Development, we presented @uclg_org’s #HLPF report Towards the Localization of the SDGs: ✅ 10 editions ✅ 4,650 practices from 1,600+ local & regional governments 🌐 Localization happens through public services.

📈 Good news from the 2026 VNR cycle: 70% of countries meaningfully involved local & regional governments (decade average: 44%). But only 15% include them in national SDG coordination mechanisms. 🗒️ Reporting together is not yet deciding together. #VNR #VLR

📌 At the @TBB Union of Municipalities of Türkiye’s Local Social Policies Workshop, UCLG Head of Research @anna_c_intnal highlighted how #LocalGovs are moving beyond the role of social policy implementers to actively shape local welfare. 🟣 Integrated local public services, care as a cross-cutting approach, and effective multilevel governance that gives LRGs a genuine seat at the decision-making table are 🔑 for effective and inclusive local social policy.

#Listen2Cities At the 6th UN Forum Of Mayors, President @u_ibrahim_altay held a bilateral meeting with @UNECE Executive Secretary @Tatiana_Molcean to: ✅ Strengthen cooperation on connecting the global and local agendas ✅ Enhance synergies at COP31 ✅ Ensure a greater role for local and regional overnments in the post-2030 agenda.

During the closing of today’s UN Human Rights Council side event, “Countering Anti-Migrant Narratives: The Role of Local and Regional Governments,” UCLG Head of Research Anna Calvete spoke on the importance of engaging #LRGs to build human-rights-based responses to hate speech, disinformation and harmful narratives targeting migrants and refugees. “Migrants and refugees should not only be the subjects of narratives about migration, whether these are negative or positive. They are members of our communities and rights-holders, and need to be part of shaping the narratives, policies and spaces that affect them.” #HRC63 @gencat

🌐 In a critical moment for human mobility, #LRGs are uniquely positioned to uphold people-centered migration governance.
