Paul Farmer, Pioneer of Global Health, Dies at 62 (Published 2022)

As a medical student, Dr. Farmer decided to build a clinic in Haiti. It grew into a vast network serving some of the world’s poorest communities.

The world has lost a huge force for good. Paul accomplished so much himself and even more through his inspiration and mentorship of others including me. I am heartbroken and send my sympathy to his family, friends, and mentees. May his mission continue.
Partners In Health announced that its founder, Dr. Paul Farmer, unexpectedly passed away today in his sleep while in Rwanda. Dr. Farmer was 62 years old. He is survived by his wife, Didi Bertrand Farmer, and their three children. 1/🧵
