i had a conjecture thats probably unprovable regarding mersene primes: starting from 2^2-1, every 2^n-1 where n is 2^(n-1)-1 will be prime the sequence goes like: 2, 3, 7, 127, 170141183460469231731687303715884105727 then becomes too big to calculate xitter.cf/fermatslibrary/status/…

2¹³⁶²⁷⁹⁸⁴¹−1, discovered today, is the largest known prime. It's a Mersenne prime (2ᵖ-1), which are easier to find. It took nearly 6 years for the GIMPS software to find it after the previous largest known prime. It was also the first Mersenne prime found using GPUs.
