Have to hand it to Raskin. This is a very smart ploy. This forces the GOP to either admit this is authoritarian style propaganda, or admit they are unbecoming of the federal government.
NEW: Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has new legislation directing Smithsonian to preserve the huge Trump banners that adorn US Justice Dept & Labor Dept -- and the "propaganda" signage Team Trump has placed at Natl Museum of African American history: Raskin: "Unlike Pres. Trump’s project of censoring, whitewashing and fictionalizing American history, my legislation will forever preserve his manifestations of authoritarian narcissism and his propagandistic assault on American history and American democracy”

This should be considered a 5-alarm democracy fire.
Trump administration refuses international election monitors for first time in over 2 decades. The decision not to invite observers from the OSCE puts the U.S. alongside Russia and Belarus, while the Justice Department prepares to deploy its own poll monitors. ms.now/news/trump-midterms-o…

My district is proposing removing students involved in 2 fights to a separate school for one semester. Some teachers expressed concerns about how this would affect students with disabilities. At some point, we need to teach students that their disability doesn’t give them permission to harm others or exempt them from the consequences of their actions. It would be preferable if this lesson was taught prior to these individuals graduating and entering society.

🤬🤬😤My wife takes her 2023 RAV4 to the dealership for a recall service. This was for an airflow sensor After finishing they come out and tell her that her horn isn’t functioning and that it would be $145 to diagnose the issue + labor and parts to repair Mind you she knows for a fact that the horn worked this morning The techs specifically said “we checked all the connections and so it’s not that” I told her to decline and bring it home Mind you this is so unlikely to be anything other than a fuse or the fact that they unplugged it and forgot to plug it back in or worse, straight up scamming After testing the fuse and the relay, as well as the clock spring, I take the radiator cover off to inspect the plugs at the horn and what do you know both horns are unplugged The airflow sensor is nowhere near these plugs so there’s zero chance these were taken off as part of the job not to mention they said they “checked the plugs” It’s also impossible they both happen to vibrate loose @Toyota I buy a brand new car from you and this is how you treat us?? Why is the Project 2025 guy “going to make history” in a few weeks? A real media system would endeavor to find out.
Trump shouts out Russ Vought and then says, ominously, "we have some big surprises coming up in a few weeks, right Russ? He's gonna be one of the important people in the history of our country."

To be clear: * It is ILLEGAL for the federal government to seize state voting machines solely based on Presidential order. * Federal forces should reject the legal order. * State forces DO NOT have to yield to federal forces on an illegal order. * If a judge strikes down the order State forces CAN engage with force to stop the illegal action. * If a judge is in process of review, and the seizure order is solely based on Presidential directive, it also likely reasonable force for State forces, by order of a Governor to block the seizure of machines until a clear ruling due to the incredible sensitivity of the chain-of-custody of those machines during an election. Every governor must ready to protect their States’ right to vote. Both by gavel, and by force if necessary.

The Bureau of Land Management approved blasting through 100-foot canyon walls at the entrance to the world's longest art gallery. So oil tankers can drive through it. Nine Mile Canyon, Utah holds more than 10,000 cultural, historical and archaeological resources, including over 1,000 known rock art sites containing more than 10,000 individual images. People have used this canyon for at least 8,000 years. The blasting happens in Gate Canyon, the entrance corridor into that gallery. Federal surveys have already found 47 historic sites along this one stretch of road alone. And it's not only the rock art. Threatened Mexican spotted owls use cliff habitat in the canyon, including areas near the proposed blasting. BLM did the minimum environmental review required and barreled ahead anyway, to move oil out of the Uinta Basin faster. Up to 1,000 vehicles a day, roughly half of them heavy tankers. This isn't BLM's first swing at this road. Duchesne County tried the same realignment in 2015 and again in 2022. Both times, public opposition killed it. This time, BLM posted it quietly in March with no public notice, denied conservation groups' request to even weigh in, and approved it in April anyway. It's the same playbook that just got this administration stopped at Big Bend National Park, except "stopped" is doing a lot of work in that sentence. There, a judge halted construction October 2nd, but only after bulldozers had already torn through the park’s grounds. A win in court doesn't un-crush what's already crushed. Three groups sued over Gate Canyon this week. But a lawsuit takes months. A blasting crew takes days. #DemsUnited 🧵

This is your daily reminder that language in children's books is significantly richer than language in our daily conversations with children. If you want your kids to have a large vocabulary going into school, you must read to them.
If I seem grumpy lately it's because I'm reading piles of recent national surveys about why parents don't read to their kids for my dissertation and... Y'all. 😐 "My child prefers screentime." "I find it boring." "It's useless."

At 28 years old, a young man decided to walk 25 miles in a single day. Not for exercise. He was walking the length of his district, stopping along the way to talk to people and hear what was happening in their lives. By the time he was halfway through, something was very wrong. He was exhausted, nauseated and vomiting. But he kept walking. He finished the 25 miles and went home. Then he slept for 36 hours. His parents, alarmed by this, took him to the emergency room where they found out his blood sugar was 900. The young man had undiagnosed Type 1 diabetes and was in diabetic ketoacidosis, a life-threatening condition that can lead to coma and death without treatment. He was then rushed to the ICU. But thankfully, that young man survived, and story doesn’t end there. Once he was able to leave the hospital, he needed regular insulin to stay alive. His first 30-day supply cost $684. Young men his age don’t carry that kind of money. So he put it on a credit card. And that experience changed the direction of James Talarico’s young life. Since then, James has been fighting for people who need insulin and other lifesaving medications in order to live, and pushing for legislation to make those drugs more affordable. Working for the people, not Big Pharma. James Talarico is who Texas needs.
