Meta will soon start charging you EXTRA FEES just for reaching your audience. Starting July 1, 2026, Meta is passing the cost of Digital Service Taxes directly onto advertisers. If you run ads targeting people in the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, or Türkiye, expect an automatic 2% to 5% location fee tacked onto your ad spend. Here is the catch most founders will miss. This tax is based on where your audience is located and where your ad impressions happen, not where your business is registered. So, if you are a US company targeting the UK, you are paying that extra 2%. If you target Austria, you are losing 5% right off the top. This is exactly why in-platform ROAS is an illusion if you do not know your true unit economics. Ad platforms do not care about your margins, your shipping costs, or your new location taxes. A 5% fee might sound small, but at scale, it is a direct hit to your bottom line. If you have not recalculated your Break-Even CPA to account for these rising hidden fees, your campaigns are secretly bleeding cash. Stop letting surprise fees eat your profit. Factor the tax into your margins today or kill the ads that can no longer afford to run. Best of Luck!
