Nope. I sometimes miss it too, but very rarely. They're fragile, add cost and are not often used nowadays.
I wrote about a local company that buys steel. As soon as the tariffs hit, they got a letter from a domestic supplier saying that it was raising its prices by the exact amount of the tariff. Instead of grabbing market share these guys used the tariff to rake in more cash.
No need to be sorry, actually. She passed early the next year, 2 days before turning 93. She lived to see my adopted kids. And she's buried down the street, in the same cemetery as Enrico Fermi and Chicago's first black mayor. Kinda cool for a poor girl from Mississippi.
My mom's last illness began here, fall of 2017. The whole family gathered. We talked and laughed together, I climbed the steeple of Rockefeller Chapel, had a wonderful chat with a U of C prof, ate Italian beef sandwiches, accepted the inevitable. It was such a sad, good time.
I was in a mall south of Boston on a recent Saturday evening and was pleasantly surprised. The joint was full of people, including lots of teens. I thought I'd stepped into a time machine and it was 1986. Kinda cool.
Or....you can just keep people out of range of an animal that does exactly what such animals are supposed to do--kill and eat other animals, including humans. The tiger, in short, did nothing wrong and should not be put to death.
Maintaining a safe, clean society mainly benefits ordinary working people who need safe schools, parks and other amenities. Law and order should be a progressive virtue. Why do some on the Left have so much trouble grasping this?
I didn't claim anything about "white males." For that matter, neither did the ad. It just purports to show a white guy on welfare, of which there are plenty.
Um...so? Per capita, it's higher among black people. In absolute numbers it's higher among whites. Either way, depicting a white guy on welfare is perfectly reasonable.
