The key result is that providing training to district governments in Uganda substantially boosted adherence to open procurement rules. We're doing some additional work to follow the consequences of that transparency on procurement quality now.

Fighting corruption often focuses on detecting and punishing the misuse of public office. In a new working paper, we show that it may be substantially easier to improve guardrails against corruption by building capacity among accounting officers.
