🚨Ongoing Nablus Closure Paralyzes Emergency Medical Services – Women Forced to Give Birth in Ambulances, Dialysis Patients Stranded at Checkpoints New information collected by PHRI points to a sharp deterioration in access to healthcare as the ongoing military closure of the Nablus area continues to disrupt emergency medical services. Abu Musa, an ambulance driver and paramedic from the village of Aqraba, told PHRI on Sunday morning that all entrances to Nablus have remained completely closed since 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As a result, neither ambulances nor private vehicles have been able to pass. While most checkpoints across the occupied West Bank reopened overnight, the Nablus area remains under complete closure. According to information received by PHRI, two women were forced to give birth inside ambulances after being unable to reach a hospital. A third woman delivered at the clinic in Aqraba after medical teams were unable to evacuate her for hospital care. In another incident, an ambulance attempting to transport a patient through the area of a nearby Israeli settlement was forced to turn back after being denied passage. PHRI has also received reports that dialysis patients remain stranded at checkpoints- some inside ambulances and others in private vehicles - unable to reach the life-sustaining treatment they depend on. According to Abu Musa, emergency medical transport across the area has effectively ground to a halt, with ambulance crews increasingly unable to reach patients or evacuate the wounded as the closure continues.

Elders came away deeply inspired by their meeting with Israeli organisations. Their work demands determination to keep speaking out for human rights, documenting reality and challenging abuses. At a time when it can be easier to remain silent, they keep the light of conscience alive. Their willingness to go against the grain is an inspiration to all of us. @HelenClarkNZ @btselem @peacenowisrael @stoptorture_il @Gisha_Access

Israeli detention centres function as torture camps for Palestinians. That's why no fewer than 100 Palestinians have died in custody since October 2023. And the abuse doesn't end there: Israel is also withholding the bodies of those who died in custody. haaretz.com/israel-news/isra…

They're not claims being made, they're facts. All of Israel's ports are open - sea, air & land. So why close Gaza's crossings when Palestinians are already facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, patients need to be evacuated urgently & people need to return home?
📢Important Update: Contrary to the claims being made, Israel is not arbitrarily blocking the transfer of aid into Gaza. Following the missile attacks launched by Iran against the State of Israel, a number of necessary security adjustments were implemented across the country, including the temporary closure of the crossings into the Gaza Strip. Operating the crossings under fire puts lives at risk, both on the Israeli side and on the Gazan side, and therefore the crossings cannot be operated safely under such conditions. At the same time, it should be clarified that on the Gazan side of the Kerem Shalom Crossing, the contents of hundreds of aid trucks remain awaiting collection. Subject to security assessments, the collection of these trucks will continue in coordination with the UN and international organizations. We emphasize that the crossings will be reopened gradually, subject to an ongoing operational assessment and under security restrictions designed to ensure the safety of all personnel present at the crossings on both sides. COGAT will continue to facilitate the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip, in accordance with its commitments and subject to the necessary security restrictions arising from the current security situation.

Last week, after two and a half years of ongoing delay by both the state and Israel’s Supreme Court, the High Court of Justice accepted the joint petition we filed, led by the @acrionline and joined by Physicians for Human Rights Israel, @HaMokedRights and @Gisha_Access . The Court ordered the Israeli prison authorities to grant the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) full access to detainees and prisoners, access to information regarding them, and access to detention facilities, including private meetings with the detainees themselves. We welcome this important decision, even though it comes after an unacceptable delay. Visits by the ICRC to places of detention are essential, and preventing them constitutes an ongoing violation that should have ended long ago. Such visits are critical not only for ensuring independent and reliable monitoring, but also for preventing torture, abuse, and life-threatening medical neglect. Under the Geneva Conventions, the @ICRC has a legal mandate to visit prisoners of war and other detainees in order to assess detention conditions and ensure humane treatment. Today, more than 9,000 Palestinians are held in Israeli detention facilities. Approximately half of them are held without charge and without fair legal proceedings. As we have repeatedly documented, thousands of these detainees are being held under horrific conditions characterized by systematic torture, starvation, and denial of medical care as a matter of declared policy. The denial of ICRC access has contributed to an environment in which widespread and systematic abuse and mistreatment have flourished. We call on the Israeli authorities to implement the Court’s ruling promptly and without further delay.

לקריאת העתירה ופסק הדין >>> acri.org.il/post/_1061

BREAKING: In a unanimous ruling, Israel's Supreme Court has accepted ACRI's petition and ordered the government to restore Red Cross visits to Palestinian security detainees. The court found the government's blanket ban violated both Israeli and international law. For the first time in nearly three years, the roughly 9,000 Palestinian security detainees held in Israeli prisons and military facilities will receive visits from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) – visits that monitor detention conditions, hear complaints, and pass information to families. Israel banned all ICRC access at the start of the war on October 7, 2023, and kept it in place for over two and a half years. Since then, harrowing testimonies have emerged of abuse, violence, and the starvation of Palestinian detainees – with no exceptions made for anyone. The government justified the ban as a security measure tied to the hostages held in Gaza, yet the ban remained in place even after the last hostage was returned in January 2026. Throughout the war, the government made a point of disregarding Israeli and international law. But the Israel Prison Service (IPS) – the agency running Israel's prisons, under the extremist Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir – was an ignoble standout. We hope the return of the Red Cross to Israel's prisons will finally bring some restraint to the IPS's abusive practices. Read the petition >>> english.acri.org.il/post/rep…

Israel re-opened Kerem Shalom, apparently due to swift US pressure, but aid delivery is limited & quantities/types far from sufficient to meet needs. Movement of people remains blocked. It demonstrates the limits of what will be possible for Gaza w/out sustained attention.
After it was closed at the start of the Iran war, Israel opens one Gaza crossing for humanitarian aid following U.S. pressure haaretz.com/gaza/2026-03-04/…
