I am glad SIX time Grand Slam doubles champion @JoeSalisbury who is retiring at 34, has no regrets as he looks back on a hugely successful career. But I have. I regret that I didn't write about him more & I think many of my colleagues and, importantly, their editors, should feel the same way. With his partner @RajeevRam who is also retiring, Salisbury was one of @Britain 's most successful athletes for a decade. He & Ram created a record by winning 3 of those Slams successively at @usopen . Joe won the @atptour doubles final twice. He won a total of 17 doubles titles. But the headlines were few & far between. Let's say it again - the fans love doubles, they play doubles & want more doubles presented more prominently. Yet the ATP is reducing doubles draws. Wrong.

Dan Evans, the British tennis player who achieved a career-high ranking of world No. 21 in 2023, is bowing out of the sport in typically outspoken fashion.
In an exclusive interview with the Tennis Podcast, Evans went into more detail about the problems he sees in British tennis.

Dan Evans didn’t get a Queens W/C into the M/D. That’s the @the_LTA prerogative. But after all he’s done for British Tennis he deserved more than a voice note. A phone call or face to face chat would have been the respect he deserves. Nothing short of disgraceful.

Dan Evans was “perplexed” when he didn’t get a Queen’s WC ahead of his retirement.
“You hope to do enough years of service for your country to maybe get one in your last tournament at Queen’s … It would have been a classy gesture to give me a wildcard.” express.co.uk/sport/tennis/2…

Dan Evans was a top player for Britain for a long time. Part of a Davis Cup winning team. Should be getting wildcards into all the British grass events before he retires at Wimbledon.

That week in Washington 🇺🇸 was some of the best tennis you can see from Evans. His consecutive victories over Tiafoe 🇺🇸 and Dimitrov 🇧🇬 were at such a high level before winning the biggest title of his career.
Who can also forgot that Dan came from 4-0 40-15 down in the 5th and final set in the first round of the US Open vs Khachanov to win the longest ever US Open match at 5 hours and 35 mins 6-7,7-6,7-6,4-6,6-4.
Absolute legend

Just seen that Dan Evans is going to hang up his rackets after @Wimbledon 😢
Loved his game style + ability to always be himself. Lots of highs and lows but so much to be proud of 💪
Good luck to him with whatever comes next
