Happy Birthday to the one and only @YoYo_Ma! 70 years young, my hero, and truly one of humanity's great treasures.

A note from Alan on Cleveland

NDR @elbphilharmonie Orchestra has an illustrious history performing the music of Bruckner. I am thrilled to perform his Eighth Symphony, perhaps his most powerful and monumental, but also his most spiritual, this Friday. Watch >> bit.ly/3CX9wQG

This hits really hard—Seiji was one of my most important mentors and role-models. I was so lucky to share so many unforgettable moments with this musical giant. RIP

Rehearsing the music for our program this week reminded me just how rich and varied Bartok’s music is. And it’s a joy to be working again with my dear friend and colleague, @igorpianist @elbphilharmonie Tune in today ➡️ bit.ly/3uiRWmc

Swirling in the intoxication of Parsifal! Studying this towering masterpiece is a joy. It’s utterly simple in a way, but demands an elastic sense of pacing that can only be achieved by living fully and deeply in its world. This spring @KungligaOperan bit.ly/42dlKwU

Thrilled to have Frank Peter Zimmermann back with us for an exciting program of Mozart, Stravinsky and Brahms. Catch the livestream tomorrow >> bit.ly/494QLX9
