Here’s where I’m at on Baker: Football is a team sport. It’s never one single player or coach’s fault. In reality, it’s not ALL his fault in any sense. O-line has had the biggest part in the offense’s failures—after all games are won and lost in the trenches. Then, I’d say it’s still early in the season in yet another new system for Baker. Still finding a rhythm in a new scheme, no matter how similar it might be to previous ones. Then, I’d say it’s Baker. But it’s all bad. Just about equal parts blame for those three negative factors mentioned. That said, Baker’s job is to elevate the guys around him. That’s the expectation when you’re paid like an elite QB. The guys around you suck? TOUGH SHIT. BE GREAT ANYWAY. I understand his biggest supporters will find a way to have a problem with what I just said, but for them I ask this: If you truly are a Baker supporter, is this really the Baker you expect to see on the field? I’m sorry, but if that’s the case I have higher expectations—and apparently a greater respect— for your guy than you do. There’s still a bad ass inside of Baker, but as of now he’s MIA.
