WHO released an updated laboratory biosafety guidance related to COVID-19. In this interim guidance, SARS-CoV-2 is classified as a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) agent. Moderate-risk agents such as HIV and Salmonella, are assigned to this level. This implies that modern people are no longer concerned about living in BSL-2 laboratory environments.
