The Holy Feast of the Holy Cross (በዓል መስቀል) was celebrated the 27 th of September at Bahti Meskerem Square in Asmara in the presence of Religious Leaders, senior Government and PFDJ officials, members of the Diplomatic Community and the faithful. The solemn ceremony included religious rituals, blessings and prayers presided over by His Holiness Abune Baslios I, 6th Patriarch of the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church. The German Embassy extends its best wishes to all those celebrating Meskel for a peaceful and blessed feast. 🇪🇷🇩🇪

On the occasion of Africa Day 2026, a friendly football match was held on 13 June at the Asmara Stadium between the Diplomatic Missions Team and the team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Eritrea. Great atmosphere and excellent organization at the Asmara Marathon on 7 June 2026! Congratulations to all participants and especially to the winners for their outstanding achievements. A wonderful celebration✨ of sportsmanship, determination, and community spirit in Asmara.🇪🇷 🇪🇷Athlete Nahom Ermias became champion of Asmara Marathon 2026 and finished the race in two hours, 16 minutes, and 22 seconds. 🏆🏅🇪🇷✨ In the women’s half marathon category, 🇪🇷Olympian Athlete Nazareth Woldu finished the race in one hour, 16 minutes, and 11 seconds, winning the gold medal and cup.✨🏆🏅🎊🇪🇷 In the Paralympics race, conducted in two groups, the 🇪🇷 athletes Tedros Aregay, Yonas Hailu, and Petros Samuel stood first. 🏅🎊🏆✨🇪🇷 #AsmaraMarathon #Eritrea #Sports #Marathon

Germany intends to intensify cultural relations with Eritrea in which the Eritrean diaspora plays an important role as demonstrated by the visit of a delegation of the Cultural Institution Goethe, named after the famous German poet and universal scientist, at the Eritro-German Center in Asmara. With the Minister of Education notably issues regarding language training were discussed.

Neurosurgeon from Germany 🇩🇪 helps children with congenital malformations in Asmara A film about the neurosurgeon’s work will be screened in 🇩🇪 Bonn on Wednesday, 20 May at the Rex Lichtspieltheater. Admission is free. Ten years of commitment in Eritrea: What began as a voluntary medical initiative has become a sustained humanitarian mission. Prof. Martina Messing-Jünger, Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at 🇩🇪 Asklepios Children’s Hospital Sankt Augustin, travels twice a year with a team of anesthesiologists and nurses to Asmara, Eritrea, to treat children born with congenital malformations. The mission is linked to the Center for Pediatric Surgery (IOCCA) in Asmara, co-founded by former pediatric cardiac surgeon Dr. Andreas Urban and supported by the German aid organization Archemed. #GlobalHealth #Pediatrics #Neurosurgery #Eritrea #HumanitarianAid
