Visited Delhi’s oldest Durga Puja pandal in Kashmere Gate, established in 1910. My wife and I were delighted to join the celebrations honouring Ma Durga and the power of women. Wonderful to meet the community keeping this tradition alive across generations.

Deeply saddened to hear of the tragic incident in Kolkata last night, where so many precious lives were lost while celebrating Durga Puja. I offer my condolences to all families who have lost loved ones and extend my best wishes to those injured.

Secretary, Information and Broadcasting Chanchal Kumar (@chanchal001) and German Ambassador to India, Dr. Jasper Wieck (@GermanAmbIndia) met today, and exchanged views about the strong partnership between India and Germany anchored on the principle of mutual trust.
The two sides emphasised on deepening people-to-people ties through closer cooperation in the field of media and entertainment.
The discussions also covered German participation across the Government, industry and creative institutions at the 2nd World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES), to be hosted by India in 2027.

Three Indian nationals (two women and one man) have tragically lost their lives in a fire incident in Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. All 3 were studying in Germany.
Embassy of India in Berlin and Consulate General of India in Frankfurt are in contact with local authorities and the bereaved families, and are extending all necessary assistance. The incident is under investigation by German authorities.
We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief.

Democracy, sovereignty and national unity cannot be taken for granted. For 45 years, Germany was divided, a division symbolised by the Berlin Wall. In 1990, 36 years ago, Germany reunified peacefully. What an opportunity to be grateful and to celebrate!
