There is a Kalenjin proverb that says, “Me et ko me et. Kaikai imechi tich kelyen kosir kitanda ngweny,” meaning, “Death is death. It is better to die at the feet of cattle (conquered from a raid) than to be found dead under the bed.” This proverb was coined by our ancestors to encourage men to be brave warriors, to venture out, and to face adversity head-on, regardless of the circumstances.
