This is so important. We were trained that thickened fluids were the only option. They’re not, and in fact, the evidence is inconclusive about their impact. It’s time for us as a profession to stand up for evidence based interventions. Patients deserve better

End of life communication goes far beyond decision making. A patient who is unable to speak typed out a note on an iPad for her husband. It was all of the usernames & passwords for their accounts. “He’s clueless and has no idea how to pay our bills.” #MedTwitter

Dear @DrHilaryJones and @GMB The main treatment for #aphasia is speech and language therapy not music. We have level 1 evidence to show SLT is effective for aphasia. Please correct. cochranelibrary.com/cdsr/doi… #GMB #DrHilaryJones

Bruce Willis is reported to have aphasia w/cognitive deficits. Cognitive deficits are uncommon after a stroke w/aphasia. Progressive brain disorders, such as PPA, often have cognitive changes w/time. We don't know the cause of his aphasia but wish the Willis's strength & support.
