barreling toward the future where W2 salaried workers are the only tax base
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?”
Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

I've talked to plenty of old Dutch people who lived through a very uneventful WWII. They didn't even notice the famine that much as they lived on farms in the countryside.
All violence is hyperlocal, it really is not important that lots of people don't notice in their own street
People are dunking on PEG, but I think the point he was trying to make is that, if you just rely on the videos you see on Twitter, it's hard to realize how localized the stuff you're seeing is.
I'm not trying to minimize the violence, those were probably the most violent protests in France since the yellow vest movement in 2018 and the race riots in 2023, but in most places life just goes on normally.
I'm not in Paris anymore, but having lived through what happened in 2018 and 2023 over there, I can guarantee you that Twitter gives you a somewhat misleading picture of what the situation looks like on the ground and I think that's all PEG was saying.

the problem(s) with this kind of thing is
a. the ai’s end product isn’t reproducible .. the code is a black box that can never be understood or replicated by anyone .. never mind iterated on without another whole-cloth generation
Im just tired at the end of the day and would like to play games with my friends or relax. I do read, just not books as much.

It's every community. Everyone knows you can get away with lying blatantly and just does it. Lawyers know, judges must be idiots to not know
