Replying to @mwallenstein
The history of soil science, similar to the history of the US, has been told through an incomplete lens, obfuscating & purposefully removing contributions of Indigenous peoples & other groups persistently excluded & marginalized from the dominant narrative doi.org/10.1002/saj2.20210
Channel heads don’t matter - there, I said it! Happening now at #AGU22.

Here is a lab lab!
Our lab here needs to wear PPE just like the people doing the science.

Dramatic flooding at the northern entrance to Yellowstone. The outer edge along a bend in a river is called a “cut bank”, and the erosion seen in just one flood event is a perfect illustration of why.
Current conditions of Yellowstone’s North Entrance Road through the Gardner Canyon between Gardiner, Montana, and Mammoth Hot Springs.
We will continue to communicate about this hazardous situation as more information is available. More info: go.nps.gov/220613

Congratulations #MontanaState University graduating class! You have withstood during hard times and inspired us. Go find something that gives you joy, that spreads more kindness, that gives back to your community, and that enriches your soul! Take that resilience and keep going.
So proud of @sarah_earth_sci for pushing forward on this paper far past her MSc. Employers, grab this scientist up. She is on the job market, loves soil, water, and restoration, and is a hard and thoughtful worker. 💯
The paper I’ve been working on with @GeologyNow and @awilcoxgeomorph is out! And open access! 🎉
You will never think about measuring weathering in the mountains the same again ⛰

A young woman of colour (a former work experience student of mine!) contacted me to say how valuable & inspiring @seis_matters was in the session she saw on diversity in Geoscience. She felt seen & represented. Thank you Chris for inspiring her! @BlkinGeoscience
Huge thanks to @seis_matters for his two amazing and inspiring talks @CU_EARTH today, covering racial diversity in geoscience, and how to look inside a volcano 🌋
