WSJ: New data shows AI tools are making jobs more intense rather than reducing workloads. Researchers tracked 164,000 workers and found employees immediately fill saved time with more tasks. Email and messaging time increased by over 100% after adopting these tools. Business software usage also jumped by 94%. Uninterrupted focus time needed for deep problem solving dropped by 9%. Workers take on broader scopes and work longer hours because AI makes extra assignments feel easy. These agents often suggest additional steps outside the original project scope. Only 3% of users hit the optimal sweet spot of using AI for 7% to 10% of their day. --- wsj. com/tech/ai/ai-isnt-lightening-workloads-its-making-them-more-intense-e417dd2c?mod=e2tw

An old but maybe still useful post on lessons from old George III's tiff with the colonies. Happy independence day. #leadership lnkd.in/gdgNyWNa

I'm thinking about how AI platforms change the trust equation for professional services firms. In this post I lay out four AI policy points: - Be Human-Centered - Be Secure - Be Transparent - Be Ethical. What do YOU think are t…lnkd.in/gAKNRS28 lnkd.in/gcZM7Yve

I'd be curious my network's thoughts on this very real and immediate question: What ethical frameworks will we need to build in order to manage the impact of AI on business and society? Some are worried about AI meaning winner takes all...I'm perhaps mo…lnkd.in/gfZfFfKv

With all the focus on #studentloans today, here's a list of the "worst-paying" college majors. I wonder how this list changes if you include pension benefits? cnb.cx/3Z2O1E4

A trait in the people who go on to do great things? Paul Graham defines it as being “relentlessly resourceful.” I see it all the time. Here’s a practical zero-to-one process to be relentlessly resourceful, if you want to set yourself up for some big swings. 1/

It is not that the "young" are more aggressive risk takers than olders ones & more "open to ideas". Most of those older open-minded aggressive risk takers* are now cashiers at the local museum, food demonstrators at Costco, or in a cemetery after some fatal collision.

Somebody explain this to me: a price cap ensures that all Russian oil will be consumed. Why not a surcharge or tax regime that makes Russian oil artificially expensive and therefore less likely to be consumed? wsj.com/articles/western-all…
I would like to thank the @nytimes for taking some leadership on backing us away from the magnificently distorted politics of risk. I wish this had been printed two years ago when “follow the science” began the March toward darkness. Follow the Science? nytimes.com/2022/02/11/brief…

Also, by printing this, @nytimes moves a lot closer to @joerogan than anybody there likely wants to admit given current winds blowing. Can we even have a reasoned discussion about #risk while the pols are leading it?
Meta Platforms lost roughly $232 B of mkt cap today. That's 3 peak mkt cap Enrons, or almost four peak Lehman Brotherses, or almost 10 peak Bear Stearnses...In just another trading day. #perspective

How are you reacting to current opportunity vs. capacity challenges? Is your organization reeling from the challenge, or reeling it all in? #economics #strategy lnkd.in/dykmGdc

How do you think about linking service delivery to the pace you or your organization can actually consume them? This is a big problem today. #management #strategy lnkd.in/duB_NFr
