My favorite part of America is how much of the "fuck you I've got mine" crowd has exactly nothing

60 years ago, The Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On" was released as a single.
Written and produced by Holland–Dozier–Holland for Diana Ross and the Supremes. A harder, more urgent Motown single than the group’s earlier ballads

America is an incurious culture.
When I speak in the US and ask, raise your hand if you know what the Mosaic Defense Doctrine is, almost nobody raises their hand.
When the president was presented with it by his own intelligence team, he dismissed it.
Here’s what the Iranians knew.
They watched America in Afghanistan and Iraq for 20 years.
They said, when they come for us, they’ll try to decapitate our leadership.
They won’t do a ground invasion, mountainous terrain, 93 million people, a skilled and educated population.
Two decades of nightmarish ground wars costing $8 trillion have made that impossible.
So they built the Mosaic Defense Doctrine.
31 autonomous units inside the country, went 9 or 10 layers deep.
Every time you hit one layer, a new group stepped in.
The Iranians planned for exactly what happened.
The president dismissed it and led the American military into a major disaster.

Zelenskyy: "When our strikes reached Yandex data centers, it suddenly became little easier to breathe on many social media platforms. Many people noticed it.
There was less hate, less division, fewer provocations because there were fewer bots. It's pretty clear where those bots were coming from.
If they disappeared when Yandex went offline, this proves once again that Europe is not the source of the problems."
The big problem is that Russia figured out how modern society consumes information a decade ago, but the West hasn't.
There are millions of bots commenting and posting Russian propaganda. There are paid influencers spreading it, with Russian bots supporting their content.
There is a gigantic machine operating to radicalize and influence Western societies, and there is not enough defense in place.
It doesn't just influence elections, it sows discord, engulfs societies in culture wars, radicalizes teenagers, and shapes political decisions when elected officials fail to read the room.
That needs to change. And fast.

Zelenskyy: “This week was very difficult for us, not only geopolitically, but also because of massive Russian attacks on our civilian infrastructure.
They attacked our energy sector 196 times, our gas and oil 20 times. So far, they've killed 153 civilians.
We want peace. We're ready for a ceasefire. We're ready to begin with any kind of de-escalation steps.
If they want an energy ceasefire, we're open to this. Don’t attack us, don’t kill our children, and we'll stop attacking your diesel. I think it’s a fair deal.”
It's a simple point, but a critical one. De-escalation has to be mutual and fair.
A "deal" that forbids Ukraine from hitting the economic engine driving Russia's war, while Russia continues killing civilians with zero consequences is not a deal at all. It's surrender.
If Trump wants an energy ceasefire, Russia is the one that must be pressured into it.

Happy birthday to Art Blakey, born on this day in 1919!
Drummer and bandleader of the Jazz Messengers, the long-running hard-bop group that turned young sidemen into leaders. His press rolls and explosive hi-hat defined the sound.

So we passed the Russian sanctions bill and Trump responded by lifting sanctions and the GOP will be silent

Good thing Republicans passed the Lindsey O. Graham Russia Sanctions Act. Very effective. Very powerful.
