His mother was born in the land of Israel. Ashkenazi DNA is 60% Levantine (meaning from the land of Israel). We were conquered by the Romans colonisers who drove us out of our land, and renamed it from Judea to Palestine. The most common last name in the Palestinian authority is Al Masri - which mean Egyptian. Also common last names there - halabi - from Aleppo Syria , Hijazi (area in Saudi Arabia ) and so on. Mark Twain visited the holy land in the middle of the 19 century and described a completely empty land. Most of the “Palestinians” came as labour immigrants from the neighbouring lands during the late ottoman time and British Mandate. Palestinians can’t event pronounce “Palestine” because there’s no P in Arabic. The only people who called themselves “Palestinian” before 1948 were Jews - “Palestine post” and “Palestine airways” were Jewish Zionist owned during the British mandate . The Arabs of the land simply called themselves Arabs , and referred to that region as southern Syria. The British named that land Palestine after they took it from the ottomans , because that was the roman colonial name of the land. Before the PLO was invented by the Soviets in 1964 (when Gaza and Judea & Samaria were in Arab hands ) there was no Arab / Islamic association to that name. We are called Jews because we are from Judea , and Arabs are allied that way because they are from Arabia.
Netanyahu’s father was born in Poland. His grandfather was born in Russia. Their family name is originally Mileikowsky.

President Trump, my friend Donald - thank you for your extraordinary endorsement. Israel has never had a greater friend in the White House. Together we will never let Iran's regime get nuclear weapons. Thank you for your clarity, courage and unwavering support. @realDonaldTrump

The statement by NY Mayor Mandami is an outrageous & disgusting rant & made on a day that ought to honor the over 1200 civilians butchered by Hamas including 46 Americans.  His comments are as insensitive & insulting as saying on the 9-11 Anniversary that “While we mourn the loss of those murdered by terrorists we condemn the response of the United States equally .”  There is NO genocide in Gaza.  The death toll there is due to Hamas having continued to hold hostages (including Americans) and starving, raping, torturing and killing them. An apology for his obtuse and utterly ignorant remarks are not enough.  God help the people of New York for electing a a jihadist sympathizer!

This is truly a dark day for British Jews. Today our Government has chosen to ignore the deep concerns expressed by so many of us. The measures announced amount to little more than political flag bearing for mendacious anti-Israel rhetoric and those who harbour a dangerous obsession with the Jewish State. These measures will succeed only in bolstering the very extremism they seek to target. On the eve of Rosh Hashanah and at a time when our community is more vulnerable than ever to the wave of extremism that has been building over recent years, these sanctions do nothing to advance the cause of peace. Nor do they make anyone safer – quite the contrary. Gesture politics of this kind feeds into an increasingly hostile discourse about Israel, and the cumulative effect of such punitive policies is to further embolden those, at home and abroad, who use hatred as a weapon against Jews.

Tom Tugendhat has just dismantled Ed Miliband’s Israel boycott and sanctions policy, exposing the danger at the heart of Labour’s plans. Watch the Shadow Foreign Secretary tear it apart as Miliband and Andy Burnham sit there visibly seething.

Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis is one of the bravest Jewish leaders of our age. It takes guts to stick your neck out and attack the government of the day as a spiritual leader, when it's much easier to play "apples and honey". This is leadership. Thank you, Rabbi.

I know I am late to this (on a bit of a twitter break), but the attacks against @EYakoby are idiotic. The UAE has been a steadfast and courageous partner of Israel, despite the wave of criticism it has faced in parts of the Arab world for signing the Abraham Accords. Yes, there are disagreements at times between Israel and the UAE, but there is also strong and growing cooperation. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a magnificent house of worship. The UAE is a leader in the Muslim world in teaching tolerance and combating extremism. The Emirati Kandura is primarily a national/regional dress, not a religious one. It is sometimes worn by non-Emiratis as a sign of respect and friendship. I have been gifted several by Emirati friends. It is fantastic that Eyal was able to fly from Tel Aviv to Abu Dhabi on his way back to the US. Preserving and strengthening the Abraham Accords is a key element of Israel's future national security.
