#OTD in 1910, Nathan Newmark was born. Best known as one of the founders of earthquake engineering, a 2001 profile said he had won "almost every (ASCE) award available to a member." He passed away in 1981 and left an enormous legacy in structural and geotechnical engineering.
Awards included the 1944 Croes Medal, 1958 Norman Medal, and 1978 Terzaghi Lecture. In 1975, @ASCETweets first awarded the Newmark Medal, given every year in his name. A building and lab bear his name on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus.
