a slow shake of his head, the god looking at the prince in confusion. “no…what do you mean?”

the realization hits him like a ton of bricks, his face darkening in embarrassment as he looks away ashamed. “oh! I’m sorry mama, I didn’t mean to offend you. but you really mean it?” he nervously looks up, hoping it wasn’t some cruel joke on his delicate nature.

he gently pats her head as a manner of comfort, unsure of how to properly show he cared, only recently learning what it meant to be a beloved son.

“that’s good! but what else happened?”

“ it isn’t. they know they may not be placed with their family and it is for them to come to terms with. you are merely doing your work.”

“You enjoy me being cold?” Thanatos peeked upwards, looking unsure at the larger god, shifting so the other’s arms covered his chest. “Strange…most people hate my being cold.”

( laughter.) oh silly you…that’s not what i meant.

Bashful, he smacked Heph’s chest playfully, his cheeks darkening as he was embarrassed at the idea of someone else hearing them. “Hephaestus! What if someone hears you?” Sliding his naked form beneath the surface, he glided through the water as though he was one with it.

elder god…? so chaos’ offspring?

a small nod as he listens. “ so it’s emotional since it is older individuals who are happy to be able to see their deceased family? princess…you are allowed to be emotional, but remember first and foremost, you have to be happy for them. for them, it’s a final resting place.”

“ you said your little flower. so you must be pregnant.” he looks at her with bewilderment at her coughing, producing some iced tea from his bag. “ this should help with the illness.”

“well why don’t you see if i can help? so that maybe if something happens again, you can be more aware of the actions you can take?”

Purring in delight, Death maneuvered himself so that now Hephaestus surrounded him, allowing the Olympian to do with hi as he pleased, relaxing against the larger figure. “So warm.”

“a bad day? did something happen with a soul?” he looks to her with concern, fixing her crown with a few more flowers, hoping that he wasn’t prying too much.

“that’s different Heph.” Refusing to elaborate, Than pulled the blacksmith against him as he impatiently strutted his way to the spring, easily loosening his clothes. “This way i get to control where they go.”

“perfect~~” he purred his response as he settled himself properly into the other’s lap, making sure he seated just how Hephaestus liked it, looking up and pressing kisses to the blacksmith’s fingers. “have you missed me handsome?”

“your little flower?” he answers almost hesitantly, hands freezing their motions. “are you expecting mamma?”

“always mama but now daddy should find you even more beautiful.” he grins at her, fixing a few more flowers into her hair, being gentle with his adoptive mother.

“Ooh, that sounds amazing baby. We could make a long day out of them. Provided you can keep your hands to yourself.” He grins knowingly, already taking Heph’s hands as he half floats towards the spring.
