South Africa has declared its abstention from the adoption of the African Charter on Family, Sovereignty and Values at the 4th Inter-Parliamentary Conference in Accra.
The delegation says the Charter’s definition of marriage as solely between a man and a woman is inconsistent with its Constitution and international legal principles.
The position was announced by delegation head Zandile Majozi during deliberations.

6/ Ghana’s policy direction must remain grounded in inclusion, dignity and evidence-based priorities that respond to real societal needs.
7/ Silence in moments like this has consequences. Don’t be silent, speak up. #HumanRights #Ghana #DignityForAll
