[TOKEN2049]Mantle RWA Day Recap 🇸🇬 Am I the only one starting to smell money in RWA? We’re still early, but institutions are already positioning themselves. So where do the opportunities for individual investors come in? Right now, there’s arbitrage between traditional and on-chain markets, along with spot-perp funding strategies. Looking ahead, stock-backed lending, hedging strategies, and access to previously hard-to-reach assets could open up entirely new opportunities. After attending @Mantle_Official RWA Day, I’m even more excited about what’s ahead. The speaker lineup was one of the strongest I saw during TOKEN2049: Franklin Templeton, Chainlink, Paxos, eToro, Solana, DMZ Finance, and Mantle, with Blockworks and Token Relations moderating. Around 63% of approved attendees were decision-makers, and the crowd felt more like a gathering of builders and industry professionals than swag farmers. I also loved the separate networking and panel spaces, customizing my Mantle T-shirt, and taking home some printed photos! Another highlight was chatting with @emilyriofreeman 💚 Founder of Byreal, Spot Executive at Bybit, and Key Advisor to Mantle. An inspiring female leader shaping the future of CeFi My biggest takeaway? The RWA conversation is shifting from “What can we tokenize?” to “What can we actually do with those assets?” The first panel, Building the On-Chain Capital Stack, explored why tokenization alone isn’t enough. Reliable pricing, settlement, custody, and liquidity all need to be in place before tokenized assets can support lending, collateral, and yield strategies. Personally, I’m much more interested in what happens when stocks move beyond traditional brokerage accounts and become usable across DeFi. The second panel, State of RWA 2026: What’s Actually Working, covered tokenized stocks, Treasuries, gold, and commodities. The appeal of tokenized equities is obvious. People already know Nvidia, Tesla, and Apple. Add 24/7 trading, global access, stablecoin settlement, and DeFi utility, and you’re giving existing demand a new way to participate. But whether tokenized stocks can attract meaningful buy-and-hold demand beyond arbitrage and trading remains an open question. Equity perps clearly have demand. Spot tokenization still needs to prove its broader product-market fit. That’s what makes Mantle’s approach worth watching. Paxos-issued USDG is already live on Mantle, Super Portal has migrated to Chainlink CCIP, and xStocks and OpenStock are expanding access to equities and IPO opportunities. Meanwhile, Bybit, Franklin Templeton, and Mantle are working to bring professional investment strategies to wallet users. Distribution matters just as much as the assets themselves. Even great DeFi products struggle when users have to create wallets, bridge assets, manage gas, and navigate unfamiliar protocols. Bybit already has the users. The Mantle - Byreal - Bybit ecosystem brings together institutional assets, on-chain liquidity, DeFi utility, and distribution. While Robinhood takes a more retail-driven approach, Mantle is taking a more infrastructure-first approach, quietly putting the pieces in place for institutional capital to move on-chain. I also interviewed Solana’s Seraphim about Korea. He mentioned noticing more Korean traders using DEXs since last year. Given Korea’s massive retail trading activity, familiar assets like U.S. stocks and gold could become a natural gateway to on-chain finance. Ultimately, I think the real measure of RWA adoption won’t be how many assets get tokenized. It’ll be actual trading volume, liquidity, spot-perp integration, collateral utility, and how easily users can access these products. Curious to see how all these pieces connect. 👀
