Final Thoughts from GBICS: This week we have takena look at an Ethernet Roadmap for 2026.
The roadmap confirms what many in the industry already feel:
Connectivity has entered a new era — faster, more efficient, and fundamentally shaped by AI.
At GBICS, we’re committed to helping organisations build infrastructure that’s ready for this next decade of innovation. If you’re planning upgrades or future‑proofing your network, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

The 2026 Ethernet Roadmap: A GBICS Perspective: Ethernet Moves Beyond the Data Centre.
Automotive, industrial automation, edge computing and smart‑building systems are all accelerating their use of Ethernet — a shift that will influence infrastructure planning across the UK.
Across every source, the message is consistent: Ethernet is now the unifying layer across AI, telecom, enterprise, automotive and industrial environments. Its openness, scalability and interoperability are more crucial than ever.

Across the roadmap, one pattern is clear: enterprises are moving fast toward 2.5G / 5G / 10GBASE‑T, Wi‑Fi 7/8 uplinks and AI‑ready architectures. GBICS is already seeing demand rise for the transceivers and infrastructure required to support these transitions.
Thank you to @EthernetAllianc, who were one of our sources for this segment of the roadmap.

Day Two of our 2026 Ethernet Roadmap: What It Means for the Future of Connectivity — A GBICS Perspective.
We are told Linear Receive Optics (LRO) are set to reduce optical power consumption helping data centres balance performance with sustainability.
At the same time, enterprise networks are entering their next major upgrade cycle — with growing demand for 2.5G, 5G and 10GBASE-T, Wi-Fi 7/8 uplinks and infrastructure built for AI-ready architectures.

The question is: Is your network ready for the next generation of performance and efficiency?...

The new Ethernet Alliance 2026 Roadmap confirms what many in the industry are already seeing:
AI workloads are reshaping network infrastructure.
From 100G–800G interconnects today to 1.6T and even 3.2T on the horizon, Ethernet is rapidly becoming the backbone of AI, and cloud.
For organisations building next-gen infrastructure, the question isn’t if networks need to scale — it’s how fast.
At GBICS, we see this roadmap as a defining moment for the future of connectivity.

And we have made it!....
We will be at @TopConference_, London, over the next few days to mix and connect with industry leaders.
There will be a chance to look and listen to opportunities.
We are excited to get going tomorrow!
